All those Hollywood types that threatened to leave the US if Trump was elected are finally headed for a tent city north of the border. Yeah!

China says they'll remain neutral in any conflict unless the US strikes North Korea first. In other words, if NK fires anywhere near enough to Guam that it can be interpreted as an attack, China will simply sit on the sidelines.

As for strategy, there is no good option. War means thousands, if not several hundred thousand dead on the Korean peninsula. China has to be concerned enough with the situation to put more pressure on Pyongyang. Meanwhile, it's being reported that the US and NK are talking back channel. Can the IOC intervene to mediate? Does Kim Jong Un ski or snowboard?

KJU has seemingly dealt himself a weaker hand by announcing plans for a demonstration launch of 4 missiles close to Guam. He now needs to offer a credible reason not to do so that will not portray himself as weak. The US has made no such announcement, other than the intent to defend itself.

If I was KJU I'm not sure I'd send 4 missiles in the air towards the US. Are we supposed to just let them hit and assume they are blanks and will miss the island? That is a dangerous move of the highest order by KJU.

I'm looking for KJU to refrain from such a launch "So as not to give away military secrets" or some other such rationale.

If he so much as throws a frisbee in the direction of any allies we need to light them up. Mr. Moose is right fighting a conventional war is playing into NK / China's hands. We've all seen the night satellite photos of NK with only a few cities with lights on. Nuke those cities and the rocket sites.

I love the smell of spent plutonium-239 in the morning.

An unsolved problem only becomes worse.

So, to be clear, if Kim decides to be a dick and show some bravado by launching a missile within 20 miles of Guam, you are calling for a nuclear strike on North Korea by the US?

Have you given any thought at all about what kind of humanitarian and financial crisis that will cause? What is your plan for the aftermath? Who is going to take control of the country after the fact and what does peace look like?

On a skiing related note, I wonder at what point it's decided that the 2018 Olympic Games are cancelled due to security concerns.

Yes, kill all of the people in power and the military to the point they can't fight. You see pictures of the generals and they are skin and bones. The people in the farmland are starving. There would be a huge humanitarian airlift to feed the people. They know how f'd up their country is and would gladly welcome change.

I'm not concerned with the financial markets at all. Korea should be united with Seoul as the capital. China won't like it, butt I don't like China. After the ceasefire the U.S. helped SK become a thriving democracy. What did China do for the north?

I'm not talking about the markets, though those likely take a huge hit. While a nuclear strike would probably end things quickly, there is little doubt that NK would still have time to fire off thousands of rounds towards SK and possibly Japan as well. The lives lost would be staggering. The cost of rebuilding when the dust clears would likely be in the 12 figures. Who pays for this?

What if China doesn't quietly accept that SK takes control of the entire peninsula? Then what?

This administration is too dim to consider thorny questions like those
'Shock and Awe' likely set the current standard.
They are also signaling an invasion of Venezuela.
Multi-tasking war effort .. Great !
Failure at home is good experience for failure abroad.
Woe is US.

Trump is evidently employing the madman theory in his approach to North Korea. It didn't work for Nixon. Will it work on Xi and Kim?
