A good discussion between Allison Stanger and Charles Murray.

This used to be studied a lot, butt some bad actors during WWII put an end to it. I don't think there is anything to be gained in the field. This was only a small part of Murray's work. Middlebury needs to keep the flakes out.

You need to add the 'L' back in the URL.

And an hour-15? Is there a cliff notes version?

The real issues are the protesters both shutting down the speaker's ability to talk openly but also, a select few physically assaulting the speaker and sponsor as they were leaving the campus. Those students (or others) need to be expelled and/or prosecuted for their actions.

Yeah .. all those Stony Brook anti-war demonstrations were far more restrained

Dartmouth demonstrations last year over campus sex issues were pretty bad as well.
Throw 'em all out. $60/k per student .. no problem.

The Stony Brook anti-war demonstrations were all peaceful except for a never determined cause of a fire that occurred the night of the Kent State massacre and took out an old, unused barn at the edge of the campus behind the quad that I was living in at the time. The only real violent demonstration I recall took place a couple of years earlier and was in response to a drug raid on campus by the Suffolk County police, the night before hearings in NYC on drug use on college campuses. It was clearly a political move by the powers that be to highlight the "problem" of drug use by students. That night, there was a much more violent protest that resulted in the burning of the main entrance gate house along with police cars being overturned and, if I recall correctly, torched as well. It's many years since and my memory of those events is more than a little "hazy".

Roger that. To this day, I avoid the color purple.
We had some doozies up in Burlington, mostly war related.
Most raucous event was after a Mark Lane presentation at Flynn Theatre.
Civil disobedience sure has morphed. Erosion of any sense of respect.
I give my UNH senior a lot of credit for maintaining perspective these days. :like

While at UNH in the mid 80's the sorority girls would wear their sweatshirts inside out to protest...well I don't know what they were protesting. Butt, it was brutal; not sure how I survived. 8)

Really hadn't heard much about this since I don't have cable ... after reading this http://thefederalist.com/2017/03/07/mid ... ays-visit/ it sounds like a toxic environment at that college. Seems most the students didn't even know who Murray is and/or what they were there to protest.

Kids who caused injury need to be prosecuted; as well as the ones shaking the car. Anyone in the mob. They won't be though. I wonder what would happen to me if I attacked someone on campus :?: 8)
