At 9:30 tonight, Iraq takes longer than WW II

Post by ABushismaDay »

August 15, 2006

Counting from the day Germany declared war on the US (December 11, 1941) to V-E Day (May 8, 1945). This is 1244 days. The Invasion of Iraq began on March 20, 2003 at 21:34 EST when the US began their first air strike on Baghdad.

On August 15, 2006 21:30 EST the United States will have been at war in Iraq longer than it was at war with Germany in World War II.
This bussiness will get out of Hand!

If we had prosecuted this war as we did WWII it would have been over in 2 weeks, but the politics involved make the comparison irrelevant. Just my 2 cents.

A more telling metric is that it's been 1170 days since the end of major combat operations.

It is pretty hard to compare a war worth fighting with a mismanaged conflict that coulda shoulda been avoided.

Its hard to compare a war where 62 million people died to anything.

My nephew flew back from Baghdad, got married, had labor induced on his pregnant wife, and flew back to Baghdad. He's got lots more to lose now. His brother is in Fallujah. Let's hope this fiasco is over soon.

Be careful of "statistics" like this one. Thats like sitting there on 9/10/01 and saying "3,118 days since the '93 World Trade Center bombing so I guess all those Clinton policies are working great!"

I hear ya, but somebody is doing something right as evidenced by the nabbing of the terrorists in England. The terrorists just have to get it right once while our security forces have to get it right all the time, I say give credit where credit is due.

You didn't get the memo? The plot was fake just to put fear into the hearts and souls of 'Westerners' worldwide.
