comprehensive list of the negative sh*t powdr has done to k

Post by Steve »

i'm trying to wrap my brain around this and it's just blowing my mind..
i know i'm forgetting a bunch of stuff - please add to this list what I forgot..

Since April 2007, Killington's new owners and management have:

ended may / late season skiing (this caused me to leave)
ended pre-thanksgiving / early season skiing
closed pico midweek
closed a bunch of lodges midweek
closed lower skyship midweek
increased pass prices
removed season pass program for children's programs
increased day-pass prices for children's programs
killed lifetime season passes

i also see it as a negative that they haven't corrected any of ASC's bad policies, either.

Where did you hear about the Zero Tolerance Policy? I must have missed that.

If they truly aren't going to heat the gondola's I think that's a negative experience for skiers.

-selling Pico season passes without making day ticket prices public

-unchanged snow making budget from last year (shorter season will make it feel like more snow is on the mountain)

Everytime I've been in the gondola it's been like a freakin' sauna, even without heat.

They didnt cancel the freestyle championships - they are only at 1 mountain for 2 years and then move on.

Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature's peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop off like autumn leaves.

I am very very pissed off about lower Skyship being closed, umm, all the days I enjoy using it... Its not just the cool terrain lost, but also the easy access. I am very much dreading driving up to bear or elsewhere... I hate parking anywhere but skyship... Even I of all people, will have to consider whether or not a season pass next year will be worth it for me... No skyship, skiingsnow not happy! Up until yesterday, I was super happy with everything, but now I am very angry  and really hope things change...

Anyway, they did say, "This winter the SRT will operate on weekends and holidays." We shall see just how true this is, but I do not have the spirit of Killington in me today, and this may very well end up being a lie. I have lost ALL hope, that they will come through with anything they have been saying. Its been too much bs, too late, and I am just not in the mood for more bad news like this..

Also- If they are closing such vital lifts midweek, I would only count on the following being open midweek:

- Sunrise triple
- Bear mountain Quad
- Skyship stage 2
- Snowshed quad
- Magic carpet 1
- Perfect turn poma
- Ramshead Quad
- K1
- Superstar
- Snowdon Quad

Only 10 lifts, compared to around 18 midweek (K only) last season, which seemed to be bare bones, now seems totally awesome!
