alpinezone challenge ...
fwiw, the list of ski areas taking the alpinezone challenge are Jay Peak, Ski Sundown, Granite Gorge, Burke, Peak Resorts (including Mount Snow, Crotched, Wildcat, and Attitash), Wachusett Mountain, Sugarloaf, Ski Ward, Mad River Glen, Magic Mountain, Sugarbush, Plattekill. no surprise but conspicuous by it's absence is killington. don't know for sure, but gotta think they were contacted and either didn't respond or declined otherwise they'd be on the list.

Re: alpinezone challenge ...
Little upside for them. The denizens of forums aren't their target market. Regardless, I doubt they want to answer a bunch of questions about the demise of the SRT, when's the Interconnect going to be built, and is there going to be anything at the peak this winter besides a friggin' hole in the ground? Deafening silence is not marketing, and it's an area where I don't agree with their decision making at all; they'd be better off being a little more pro-active, but that isn't Nyberg's style.

Re: alpinezone challenge ...
I received an email from AZ this morning saying that they are releasing 6 challenges at a time, so maybe K hasn't responded that they will or will not do it this year.

The first half of your argument makes sense to me; the second half doesn't. This is a quiet period in ski marketing season: most people aren't really thinking about skiing right now, other than obsessives like us.rogman wrote:Little upside for them. This will be an odd year for Killington, because the SRT and the Peak Lodge are gone, but their replacements aren't yet on the scene. When the season gets closer, I'm sure Killington will be out there trying to sell the improvements they have made (snowmaking, trail re-grading, the new heated loading area for the K-1 gondola). But it's still a net loss until the Peak Lodge gets re-built and the SRT gets replaced.
Re: alpinezone challenge ...
Killingtons target market should be women in their 20's to 50's.
