What would you rather see happen at Killington?

Post by snoloco »

Would you rather have Sunrise reopened to the bottom, the interconnect built, or the village built first? I personally would rather have Sunrise reopened first and I think that it is the most practical. What does everyone else think?

Interconnect. 100 miles of trails and over 1,000 acres of terrain in a region where a ski resort of half the size is considered impressive. THAT would be something to brag about!

never want to see the village. enjoyed sunrise when it was there but to commit snowmaking to that flat low elevation terrain now would be a waste of resources. prefer pico as it is so not a big fan of the interconnect but there could be some interesting back there ...

Interconnect would be awesome.

The interconnect would be terrible for Pico. Right now Killington has something unique and special over at Pico. Connect it and it just becomes another mountain peak at Killington. The unique nature of the Pico experience would disappear.

A new Southridge lift. Sorry, not on your list but, I think a new lift there is needed the most.

Agreed. I never want to see the village, and I agree with Skiadikt that the snowmaking on Sunrise would be a waste of resources. The interconnect would be cool and make Killington even more of a destination... but it would ruin Pico.

Southridge lift is where its at, I could loop that area all day.
All you've got to do is go that way, really really fast. If something gets in your way, turn.

As has been mentioned, interconnect isn't a must-have.
The distinctive element of Pico is still it's calling card :like

Sunrise/NEP always seemed a bit of a farce.
Even it's southern parking lot value was overstated.
Aside from Thunderball, lot of lift for no pitch vertical.
Very happy that the Parker's Gore land trade went thru.

The Village will do nothing for the on-slope experience.

Like many, I pray for a revitalized South Ridge. Instant gain.
There sure are lots of dormant towers and cable layin' around.

HSQ replacing the triple at K1 -

That's doable -

The other stuff is a couple presidents away anyway.-

Southridge is perfect the way it is now - it's an effort to get there and on the right day worth the trip.

I'd like a Southridge Lift where I can go and get away from the crowds and spend my day skiing natural snow on the Jug, Jug Handle , Breakaway etc.... I'd also like this new Southridge lift to go all the way to the Peak so that you can ski over to the New Summit Lodge for food , drink and a rest rooms for the Ladies .
To me, that would be the least amount of capital spent but with the biggest benefit for the Mountain.

No brainer: South Ridge. Killington is broken without that lift.

My wish list....not complaining, just wishing...

1. New South Ridge Lift. Take the Devils Fiddle lift and move it over there.

2. Replace the Snowdon triple with a high speed triple to get the masses off the K1.

3. Do not complete the inter connect. It will ruin Pico.

4. Take the nets off the Snowshed crossover. Sky Peak line is TOO long.
