confirmed just the rumored santa clara shows for 6/27-28. no new york. i'll take them at their word that that's it. feel bad for those folks who paid ridiculous money for chicago tickets. really got screwed. they tried in the letter to spin it the best they could but really this was a botch job from the beginning. the greedful dead ...
pretty decent versions of the 4/26/77 & 4/27/77 capitol theater shows have turned up on youtube. had some of these on moldy vhs tapes. warning - plenty of "dead" air as was customary in those days but the band is on fire. a precursor of what was to come that year. never seen jerry so animated and full of energy - playin, dancin & smilin up a storm as i prefer to remember him ...
So, are any other zoners heading out to CA this weekend for the Santa Clara shows?
My brother has tickets for both, and got me a ticket for the Sunday show, but I am heading out early on Saturday in case one turns up for Saturday. We were all shut out on the Chicago shows.
Really looking forward to this.
Happy hour's come and gone -
much too short and much too long
P&G saw simulcast of Friday show in Rhode Island. Glad I went but not overwhelming. Not many there, but an entertaining group nonetheless.
The review snowboarder sent was pretty close to the mark. Trey played a lot of 'single note' riffs that didn't cut it. End of Crazy Fingers for example. However, he woke up a bit later in second set.
I disagree with the review on Playin', that was excellent free form jamming.
Disapointed short jam on Jack Straw. Music Never Stopped pretty good. Dissapointed Bertha [check out P&F Glens Falls NY 2010 to hear what Trey is capable of].
I never liked New Potato, so dissapointed when that came out of D/S. Rest of second set pretty good.
Vocals were excellent throughout.
Horsnby didn't add much as I expected. Not sure why they needed him with Jeff there.
How was sound in the stadium? Tribune implied muddy? Simulcast sound was very good.
Goes to show, you don't never know
Watch each card you play, and play it slow
Don't you let that deal go down
Don't you let that deal go down
Looks like its going down no matter what I do !!!
