T R U M P vs. Hillary - who wins?
Re: T R U M P vs. Hillary - who wins?
Pence is the same as Biden? Are you serious? They're polar opposites. Biden, maybe the laziest VP in history. Couldn't ask for a better man to help lead the country than VP Pence. Picking him and Kellyanne Conway to head campaign show Trump's ability to place highly effective people in the right positions.

As long as the Corporate Tax Rate is lowered to 15% - I'm good with the ride. Of course I'd love to see the tax repatriation rules change, patent box, strong R&D tax credit, etc. added. Maybe implement a VAT to make up for lost revenue resulting from tax cuts?Nikoli wrote:This is going to be fun!

Ed Klein: Here’s what I know, not my opinion. About 6:30 this morning she called an old friend. She was crying inconsolably. She couldn’t stop crying. And her friend, her female friend from way, way back said it was even hard to understand what she was saying she was crying so hard. This is Hillary we’re talking about. Eventually her friend said she could make out that she was blaming James Comey, the Director of the FBI, for her loss, and, I don’t understand exactly, the president of the United States for not doing enough.
this is an absolutely beautiful thing, tremendously beautiful, so beautiful let me tell you, many many people are saying, many great people are saying it's like nothing they've ever seen...
Heir apparent hillary clinton-- and it all crashes down and you wave your finger but there's no one around, just one more thing, where's your crown king nothing? this was the most deserved political beatdown ever...that it came as a complete blindside was EPIC...truly EPIC...

We can't and will never do away with the electoral college for reasons you stated, however I do think it is reasonable to consider the overall popular vote when evaluating how much of a "mandate" the election results are.madhatter wrote:electoral college:
if people want govt that is by and for people like them stop giving immense wide-sweeping power to the federal govt...have them involved only in the bare essentials for running the country and restore states rights....right now our electoral college prevents mob rule...and if any of you imagine that the blue urban areas have the same ideas about what gov should do/provide as the few blue sparsely populated rural/resort areas have you're bigly mistaken...not a whole lot of people in the blue states of vt, maine, nh, RI vs the rest of those blue areas...so unless you want the rest of the blue areas to speak for you popular vote is probably not gonna be so good for you....I'd maybe be for proportional voting like Maine and nebraska, but that's probably not so good for the left either huh?
Usually I believe the winning party takes the results as too much of a mandate and then pushes things to far (instead of governing from the middle), and this is why there is often a strong "throw the bums out" sentiment and the pendulum continues to swing back and forth.

I've made it no secret that I hate both Trump an Clinton. I think it is an embarrassment to the country that someone who boasts about grabbing women's pussys, makes dick jokes on a debate stage, mocks the disabled, insults John McCain (the list goes on) can be elected to the highest office in the land.XtremeJibber2001 wrote:This. I am pleased I was wrong and Hillary was not elected, but not especially pleased Trump is POTUS.Mister Moose wrote: This is the Dewey moment in our lifetime.
Not only that, with Republican control in Congress and the executive, there will be a pendulum swing in policy larger than we have seen in our lifetime, or at least since Carter > Reagan.
I'm looking forward to a balancing of our foreign trade, but not going further to a protectionist tariff driven overcompensation.
I'm looking forward to a resurgence of capitalism without the cronyism.
I'm looking forward to far less abuse of executive privilege.
I'm looking forward to a greater emphasis on individual work, responsibility and achievement, and less emphasis on socialism.
I'm looking forward to a health care policy that seeks to reduce costs more than it seeks to force equal misery at high cost to all of us. 10 minutes in your doctors office for a routine procedure using cheap everyday supplies shouldn't cost $600, shouldn't take 3 weeks to schedule, shouldn't consist of evasive insurance estimates, and shouldn't be charged by a secret price structure of overly complicated insurance contracts.
I'm looking forward to an example where no one is above the law.
I'm looking forward to a Supreme Court that decides an application of the law, and doesn't twist, invent, or ignore the law.
I'm looking forward to an improved economy with improved unemployment and less deficit spending.
We'll see what we actually get. Trump's unpredictable sometimes impulsive decision making will no doubt cause some kitchen fires. There will be infighting with the press and the entrenched liberal established opposition. Trump is no angel of social morality nor capitalistic virtue. He sits on gold plated chairs. But in many ways he is the medicine for entrenched politicians and what that breeds when length of someone's political career drives the agenda more than the business of the people.
I don't want to see Trump or fellow Republicans spend time on things like repealing LGBT rights, Roe v Wade, impeaching Clinton, etc. Would love to see the legacy of Trump's presidency as fixing ACA and/or tax reform.
That being said I hope he is successful for the sake of our country and that he focuses on the fiscal issues (issues that I feel closer to the Republican party with) and stays away from the social issues (issues where i tend to agree much more with the Democrats) that you mentioned above.

Imagine how "used" everyone would feel with the Clinton Crime Family in charge.
