SO YOU THOUGHT IT WAS SAFE TO DRIVE NORTH

Post by Dr. NO »

Up to do the weekly maintenance in VT. Normal route is Exit 5 across Rt121 I think to NH. Buy booze and beer in Walpole and then Rt5 and 103 to Rutvegas. Bridge over CT river is being replaced, one lane at a time. Traffic lights on NH 12 and 121.
People survived the short period on Rt. 100 and 103, Nearly complete, BUTT new construction going on in Ludlow with a new closing posted. The Bridge over the Black River in Ludlow will be CLOSED beginning June 10th Until JULY 15th. Not an easy work around especially if they block local roads to avoid heavy traffic.Maybe Mill St before the library to Pleasant St to Depot Rd (which I think it the traffic light) and back on 103. Good thing it isn't winter and snowy out there.

The big detour is only for trucks, other traffic can take a local detour which only adds .7 miles.

They don't say what the local detour is. Looks like Northbound take High Street at the Village Green. Southbound Elm street just before the bridge to Pleasant St to Pleasant St Extension to 103. There's a bridge on Mill St but it doesn't show on maps as a through street. Maybe that bridge is closed as well?

Mill street is not an option. Bridge is rusty/dusty with Jersey barriers blocking entrance. Pleasant St route is pretty painless.

Drove 103 today through Ludlow. I opted to go down 100 and all the way to Lavalley Lumber which turned out to be the longer route and if traffic were heavier tough to get back on 103. Detour for trucks and large vehicles was down 100 to 11 and then across to Chester. Cars can turn left at the light in town then go up the hill, turn right down past the gazebo and continue on 103. Reverse going North. Wonder how many folks will continue going the back road past the through traffic prohibited signs?
