The New York Yankees will open the season this week with baseball's seventh-highest payroll, their LOWEST ranking since 1992, according to projections by The Associated Press. The Boston Red Sox will TOP the major leagues at about $223 million, ending the Los Angeles Dodgers' four-year run as the top spender. The San Francisco Giants will be second at around $203 million, and the Chicago Cubs are set to be third at about $183 million.
Well , that changes perceptions...and excuses ... LOL

Sox will have to wait a year to shed 2/3 of their biggest contracts.
Won't be long before the EE has to pay up for their young players.

Re: 2018 MLB PAYROLL
Let's be honest, both teams have bought a few rings and have had players that bent the rules about Steroids. But that's not what this post is about! This is simply stating the Sox current payroll reeks of everything I hate about MLB.. and the reason I always post the whole payroll thing is because I believe there should be a payroll cap and every team should play on a level playing field .SnoBrdr wrote:Ya he got them at the same place as Giambi, Clemens, Petttitte, Kevin Brown, Mike Stanton.icedtea wrote:But the Yankees buy their 27 rings...

The Giants are rebuilding for 1 more S.B. Run and will be back sooner than you think especially drafting 2nd in this years NFL Draft. I just hope your Pats are still standing so the Giants can beat them AGAIN!brownman wrote:In fairness, he'll try most anything to distract from the woeful NYFG situation.

Payrolls aside, few in Boston are focused on the Sox right now
Too busy watching Boston's winter teams positioning for the Playoffs.
