ed viesturs finally did it..

on thursday, ed viesturs became the 14th person in the world, and the first american, to climb all 14 of the world's 8000-meter peaks.. he did it on annupurna in nepal..

viesturs is famous for his discipline in keeping the climbs as safe as possible. i don't remember the details, but this is not his first or even second attempt at 'purna - and i think both of the other times he turned around because of avalanche danger - where other climbers would have risked it.
