Question: why should we really care if China forces companies to transfer their intellectual property to do business there?
Certainly I can understand trying to protect intellectual property generally and that we should make sure China can't just rip off U.S. patents. But I don't think that's the issue, is it? Isn't the issue that China forces companies who do business there to transfer intellectual property? In that scenario, why not just leave it up to the companies to negotiate?
Don't like how China does business? Don't do business there. You know, free market, yada yada.
