Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested 35 migrants as part of an operation targeting families with court-ordered removals, a Department of Homeland Security official confirmed to CNN on Tuesday.

The raids were planned to target around 2,000 migrant families who had been ordered removed by an immigration judge, but the latest numbers provided by the official show the arrests fell short of that goal.

hmmm seems like ONCE again your are incapable of comprehension...
Acting ICE Director Matthew Albence acknowledged the numbers were low in an interview with the Times on Monday, telling the paper, "I don't know of any other population where people are telling them how to avoid arrest as a result of illegal activity," he said. "It certainly makes it harder for us to effectuate these orders issued."
"You didn't hear ICE talking about it before the operation was taking place," he told the Times.
As of May 13, ICE arrested 934 migrants, 35 of whom were part of Operation Border Resolve, which targeted families with court-ordered removals. "The 934 arrests were made in a comprehensive, multi-tiered approach to interior enforcement," the official said, adding that the majority had criminal convictions.

Here's something awful:
Galicia was travelling with a group of friends, all Latinos, when they were stopped at a Border Patrol inland checkpoint on a highway north of Edinburg. The teen presented a wallet-sized Texas birth certificate, a Texas ID card and a Social Security to agents but was taken into custody on suspicion that he was in the U.S. illegally and his documents were fraudulent, the Washington Post reported.

He was detained for three weeks by Border Patrol before he was transferred to the detention facility on Saturday. Galicia was born in Dallas on Dec. 24, 2000, Dallas Morning News reported. The morning program was the first to report his detention, sparking outcry from activists online.

The teen’s mother, Sanjuana Galicia, is an undocumented immigrant. Galan said that agents may have suspected the teen's documents were fraudulent based on previous documents his mother took out in his name. When the teen was still a minor, his mother took out a U.S. tourist visa in his name, falsely saying on the document that her son was born in Mexico, thinking it would make it easier for him to travel there to visit family, she said.

So, being detained for a day on suspicion of fraudulent documents, if there was a reasonable basis for that suspicion, seems reasonable. Three weeks? Are you kidding me? This is going to end with a pretty big lawsuit/settlement.

correcting the fake news

A total of 934 people were apprehended during ICE operations that started on May 13, 2019.

Operation Crosscheck, which resulted in 899 arrests between May 13 and July 11
more than two thirds of those arrested had contacts with the criminal justice system, including 605 with prior convictions and 93 who were facing pending charges.

previously the ( barely) useful idiot class was mislead by CNN and wholeheartedly gobbled it up as always...

I believe those were two separate operations, the second of which netted 35 so far and was the one being touted by Trump.

so far 1000 removed between the two operations since may 13th? be nice if it was 100,000 unrealistic by any standardsbut given the hurdles to overcome it's a fair number....

the eventual goal is to not have people in country to begin with unless they qualify for asylum prior to entry...

'Operation Border Resolve' ICE raids, touted by President ... -

Operation Border Resolve: National "round-up" of migrants yields 35 ...

https://www.nytimes.com/2019/07/23/us/i ... sions.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
the publicity may have prompted many of those who had been targeted — 2,105 people in more than a dozen cities who had received final deportation orders but had not reported to Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers — to temporarily leave their homes, or to move altogether to evade arrest.

Advance notice of the large-scale operation also gave immigrant advocates time to counsel families about their rights, which include not opening the door or answering questions. On social media, community groups shared detailed information about sightings of ICE agents.

In an interview Monday, Matthew Albence, the acting director of ICE, which is responsible for arresting, detaining and deporting unauthorized immigrants who are already in the United States, acknowledged that the number of apprehensions was low.
After postponing the raids in June, Mr. Trump said ahead of time that they would take place last week. the operation ... began around July 14...
not sure how this shows trumps execution of this is incompetent...maybe not tell any democrats next time?

in any case it allows trump to accomplish a number of things:

keep making ICE arrests and deportations

make the case that more manpower is needed

paint democrats as aiding and abetting criminal illegal aliens who have already had their day in court and lost...

keep those targeted keeping a low profile and looking over their shoulders...

make the case for eliminating the easily ( almost seems intentional)exploitable asylum loopholes that many of these people gained access under...

but yes the specific raid that trump said was beginning and was then delayed has only netted 35 arrests largely due to the targets being tipped off and taking steps to avoid apprehension...

again I'm not sure how this makes trump incompetent nor am I sure why anyone is getting a tingle up their leg over the difficulty in removing these people who have already had their day in court and lost...maybe we should remove them then and there as soon as the verdict is rendered?...ya know that way no one could tip them off? of course there would be even fewer no shows than the already dismal rate of appearance...

so we're back to keeping em out in the first place as the best MO...

build the wall...( and surround it with a moat of fire)

That was my read. And the twitter post I cited came from June 17, so the stats dating back to May are quite irrelevant. Even still, 934 arrests after promising millions seems rather underwhelming, and not at all in line with what was promised.

That was my read. And the twitter post I cited came from June 17, the operation he mentioned is as bubba stated the second operation which was postponed until july 14thso the stats dating back to May are quite irrelevant. if you insist...there was zero clarity in the article you posted I had to read about 10 different sources to verify which operation took place when what tweet applied to what operation, which news quote was talking about which operation... the numbers are dismal, not for lack of trying though...Even still, 934 arrests after promising millions seems rather underwhelming, I'd like to see that number much higher also...but just like the cops who had to tolerate being doused with water to prevent the bad optics, ICE also cannot go all Elián González and thus many apprehensions are aborted or thwarted...again these are people who had their day in court and lost....why are you happy they continue to evade the law? why are you not upset about democrats who tip off these fugitives from justice?and not at all in line with what was promised.
he didn't promise millions...it's ignorant of you to assume that but yet you not only assume but insist...the operation only targeted 2000 people....again w the comprehension...35 out of 2000 sux but when some of our elected officials are openly attempting to obstruct the process and social media is providing real time updates so people can avoid/escape ICE it makes a difficult task all the more difficult...and yer happy about that why?

all the more reason to keep em out in the first place...
