I believe those were two separate operations, the second of which netted 35 so far and was the one being touted by Trump.as beginning next week on jun 17th then delayed until july 14th
so far 1000 removed between the two operations since may 13th? be nice if it was 100,000
unrealistic by any standardsbut given the hurdles to overcome it's a fair number....
the eventual goal is to not have people in country to begin with unless they qualify for asylum prior to entry...

the publicity may have prompted many of those who had been targeted — 2,105 people in more than a dozen cities who had received final deportation orders but had not reported to Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers — to temporarily leave their homes, or to move altogether to evade arrest.
Advance notice of the large-scale operation also gave immigrant advocates time to counsel families about their rights, which include not opening the door or answering questions. On social media, community groups shared detailed information about sightings of ICE agents.
In an interview Monday, Matthew Albence, the acting director of ICE, which is responsible for arresting, detaining and deporting unauthorized immigrants who are already in the United States, acknowledged that the number of apprehensions was low.
After postponing the raids in June, Mr. Trump said ahead of time that they would take place last week. the operation ... began around July 14...
not sure how this shows trumps execution of this is incompetent...maybe not tell any democrats next time?
in any case it allows trump to accomplish a number of things:
keep making ICE arrests and deportations
make the case that more manpower is needed
paint democrats as aiding and abetting criminal illegal aliens who have already had their day in court and lost...
keep those targeted keeping a low profile and looking over their shoulders...
make the case for eliminating the easily ( almost seems intentional)exploitable asylum loopholes that many of these people gained access under...
but yes the specific raid that trump said was beginning and was then delayed has only netted 35 arrests largely due to the targets being tipped off and taking steps to avoid apprehension...
again I'm not sure how this makes trump incompetent nor am I sure why anyone is getting a tingle up their leg over the difficulty in removing these people who have already had their day in court and lost...maybe we should remove them then and there as soon as the verdict is rendered?...ya know that way no one could tip them off? of course there would be even fewer no shows than the already dismal rate of appearance...
so we're back to keeping em out in the first place as the best MO...
