mtn closed til further notice

Update March 19 (4:45 p.m.)

We have continued to monitor the dynamic and unprecedented COVID-19 public health crisis and, as a result of the unfolding events surrounding it, our team has made the careful determination to extend the suspension of our operations. We are closed for now and, while we cannot underestimate the extreme fluidity of our current situation, our goal is to reopen when we can.

We continue to share the same belief as many of you – that spending time in the mountains, enjoying nature and the outdoors is important to leading a fulfilling life, and this is why we will continue to monitor the situation with the hope of being able to resume operations when the COVID-19 threat subsides.

We realize this decision will certainly be disappointing to many, but this is a serious situation and closing our operations for now marks a significant step to help stop the spread of COVID-19. During this time, we encourage everyone to do their part to enable social distancing, an important step to mitigate the risks associated with COVID-19.

Guests are encouraged to submit a request for a call or email from our team if they need to cancel or modify reservations. Given the extenuating circumstances related to COVID-19, Killington has modified its cancellation policies.

Our ultimate goal is for us all to have a healthy return to the mountains, to ski, ride, hike, bike and simply enjoy being together doing what we love again when the COVID-19 health crisis improves. We thank you for your patience and understanding in this situation. Please stay safe so that we may enjoy more days adventuring and doing what we love with those we love for many years to come.

Now here's the long term question. Is there a next season? Do they get shut down in the fall if infections explode again with cold weather? Wtf does this do to pass sales both K and Ikon? The questions are endless as is the uncertainty.

they are still holding out hope of re-opening superstar at some point. the FB version:

As a result of the unfolding events surrounding the COVID-19 public health crisis, our team has made the careful decision to extend the suspension of our operations until further notice.

Our ultimate goal is for us all to have a healthy return to the mountains, to ski, ride, hike, bike and play after this situation improves. That could be late spring meaning Superstar spins once again or it could mean we reopen with downhill mountain biking. Until then, we want to sincerely thank you for your patience and understanding in this situation. Please stay safe so that we can enjoy more days adventuring and doing what we love with those we love for many years to come.

Stinks that they had to shut down at all, but this update comes as no surprise. We have a long way to go to get through this thing. Shout out to Mike S, and the entire K Team for making this a very good season. Be safe Zoners.

How come Mike Solimano’s name wasn’t on the bottom from the blast email to K customers? I know he’s busy but a more personal note -and less PR generic blah blah- would have been nice

And what is Killington and POWDR doing for employees re severance and benefits?

How are the foreign employees doing? Are they all being paid for the season? And have they all reached their home countries safely?

I guess l’m used to reading the emails (seems like every email list from last 5 years!) and announcements this week from smaller organizations which tend to be more personal and likely written by PR flacks and lawyers. (E.g. Steve Wright at Jay Peak, GM at Revelstoke)

pico closed for the season, will honor pico passes at K should it reopen...
Although Killington Resort is closed now too, and extending suspension of operations until further notice, we hope the COVID-19 situation subsides and Killington can reopen before the season's over. If this is the case, we invite our Pico family to join us at Killington, where My Pico Season Passes will be valid through the end of the 2019-20 season.

For all you sugar hikers .. what is your plan in the event that you fracture your lower leg while 'social distance skiing' the headwall ?
You expect someone will evacuate you .. exactly how .. by whom .. and where to ?

Be sensible .. skiing is a great pastime .. butt there are many other ways to occupy your time right now.
Bewilderment is rampant .. life is delicate .. for many, it's a good time to take stock.

Right now, you need to treat in-bounds climbs like back country; there is no ski patrol to help you. Stowe Mountain Rescue posted some pretty good info here https://www.facebook.com/plugins/post.p ... 5937907279" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
