As I stated in the other thread, there's a better way. I'm not saying these vandals shouldn't be arrested, but honestly that's not even what was being attempted here. The officers were just trying to disburse the crowd, not arrest anyone, from what I could tell.

Second, if you as an officer witness a crime, you need to act in a professional manner to apprehend the suspect and place them under arrest. You don't just shove them. If you want the crowd to disburse, you tell them to disburse, you give them warnings, and you don't as a single officer just charge in and grab someone and throw them to the ground. That's not professional conduct and it's not conduct becoming of a law enforcement officer.

If you watch the video, you see camo-clad feds running around and shoving people and pushing them and firing projectiles all in a haphazard and disorganized manner. It's totally unprofessional and disturbing, in my opinion. Especially in a situation where the biggest crime is vandalism.

What they could and should have done is approach the group, and in a calm voice, ask them what is happening and what they are doing. Tell them that what they are doing is a crime and they need to leave or they will be arrested, etc. None of that happened in that video. It was just police attacking a bunch of dudes standing around.

I think part of the problem here is that TV has given people an unrealistic idea of what it's like to be a police officer. Do you know what police do most of the time when they respond to a call? They talk to people, and not much more. Sometimes they make arrests after talking to people, sometimes not. To hear someone say police aren't social workers is kind of funny, because in all honesty a ton of what they do amounts to something akin to social work.

Here's some interesting data. Only about 27% of officers have *ever* fired their service weapon in the line of duty.

This is not to suggest that police work isn't difficult and dangerous - it is. But the amount of times it is truly necessary for police to exercise violence is small. The use of force should be exercised circumspectly and judiciously, and officers should be better trained to employ alternatives to violence whenever possible.

Facts:

- Warnings to disperse are given constantly.
- Before the start of the video above, there was a mob of people trying to break though wooden cladding protecting Hatfield Federal Courthouse. Those people shoved were not just standing around.
- There are mobs of hundreds of Antifa attempting to vandalize and destroy government buildings.
- CBP and DHS officers have been tasked with defending the Hatfield Federal Courthouse, primary by dispersing these mobs.
- The officers are highly trained police or federal anti-terror / anti-cartel SWAT. They are EXCEPTIONALLY professional and polite. They have nothing to prove.
- Some carry automatic assault rifles, to be used against a deadly threat - sniper, vehicle attack, etc. All carry pistols.
- I have not seen them definitively use rubber bullets. Mostly CS gas, pepper balls, flashbangs and smoke. Very few batons.
- The shoving in the video above is a very rare exception to what normally goes on. There is normally very little hand to hand interaction.
- Arresting people is not their primary objective. They have arrested and charged a couple dozen people over the past week. They could have easily arrested hundreds.
- Both sides have used considerable amount of restraint. Virtually no beatings of protestors, firebombings, hard objects thrown aside from tear gas, live ammo, vehicular assaults, etc. No deadly force on either side.

There are no warnings given in the video you posted, nor are there any calm conversations between police and protesters. I do not see where I have lied or misrepresented any facts. Maybe the problem is you posted a video that didn't really support your point?
