The more time goes by ... the more it's looking like this attack was premeditated. Hoping we don't learn any members of congress were involved.

Yeah I saw the story this morning about reports of Republican Congressmen giving protestors guided tours of Capitol Hill the day before the attack. It's possible that these were scouting missions for the following day. Might just be the rumor mill, but if it proves to be true, wow.

Multiple business partners have pulled out of his business, including Deutsche Bank, the PGA tour, and others. He's persona non grata in the Republican party. And now, another impeachment trial looms, not to mention a criminal investigation and the possibility of charges.

You can call it politics if you want, but he brought this all on himself. If he had just conceded in November like a reasonable person, none of this would have happened. Learn from his mistakes. Don't be a sore loser!
not just what you mention, but nearly every major corporation you can think of has made some sort of statement condemning the coup, and most importantly, banning funding of legislators who voted against the electoral college results or banning all political contributions entirely for the foreseeable future but not forever. who would of thought instigating a civil war could be bad for business... /s

its unbelievably obvious this was premeditated and with inside help including congresspeople and capitol police. just look at how outnumbered they were compared to the BLM protests or how they tried calling for national guard backup multiple times before pence usurped the chain of command to order it?

Trump's lonely exit
By Jim Acosta, CNN

In one last divisive spectacle before exiting the Oval Office, President Donald J. Trump became the first chief executive in modern US history to forgo the tradition of attending his successor's inauguration. Instead, Trump opted for a departure ceremony that left the self-styled larger-than-life business tycoon-turned-president appearing small and as alone as ever.

Answer: ... small and as alone as ever.
im glad it ended this way, but im still worried that his bat sh*t supporters who thought a violent insurrection was the appropriate response to losing an election arent going anywhere and will become more radicalized and who knows what kind of candidates the republicans will run in future elections that cater to that radicalization. i think the question going forward is - are these people followers of a cult of personality, and now that he is small, alone and deplatformed, will someone else be able to take his place and his momentum? or will it fade back into a loosely organized subculture of various hate groups that the mainstream rejects, and the republican party will go back to its standard fare?

and FYI, im referring to a subset of trump supporters and not republicans as a whole. i totally respect (and disagree with) the arguments for small government / small taxes / small regulation that is essentially the base of republican party ideology, and most republicans feel the same way about democratic party ideology. what trump was peddling wasn't republicanism, it was white supremacism. but trump supporters don't like being faced with the reality that they openly supported a white supremacist candidate who pushed a white supremacist platform and who's base was made up of white supremacist hate groups and they remain in complete denial of it because they're not racist!

Capitol rioter allegedly dragged cop down stairs, attempted suicide
By Ben FeuerherdJanuary 22, 2021 | 3:11pm | Updated

A geophysicist from Colorado allegedly dragged a police officer down a set of stairs during the Jan. 6 Capitol riot — and then bought a plane ticket to Switzerland and attempted suicide in Westchester County in the days after the siege, it was revealed in court Friday.

Jeffrey Sabol, 51, was ordered held without bail at his initial court appearance in White Plains federal court, where a judge called the evidence against him “very disturbing and deeply troubling.”

“That conduct is beyond the pale,” Judge Andrew Krause said.

Sabol, who grew up in upstate New York, was allegedly captured on video in the frenzied crowd at the Capitol, dragging a police officer down a flight of stairs during the riot. The officer was then beaten by the crowd of Trump supporters, including by a rioter with an American flag, a prosecutor said in court.

Images also show Sabol holding a police baton against an officer’s neck during the siege, Assistant US Attorney Ben Gianforte said at the court proceeding Friday.

Prosecutors believe Sabol wrested the club away from another officer in the melee, which may result in additional charges being filed against him.

Sabol admitted to clashing with a police officer at the riot, but claimed to be in a “fit of rage,” Gianforte said.

After the riot, Sabol traveled to the New York City area, where he contemplated fleeing the country and attempted suicide, prosecutors allege.

At some point while he was in Westchester County after the riot, he bought a plane ticket to Zurich, Switzerland, a non-extradition country with the US, Gianforte said.

“He actually tried to flee the country,” he said. “He buys a ticket to a place where he thinks he won’t get shipped back home to face the music.”

He was arrested by the FBI at the Westchester County Medical Center Friday morning, where he was recovering from his suicide attempt.

The public defender who represented Sabol at the hearing highlighted his job and community ties in an attempt to secure his release on bail.

Attorney Jason Ser argued Sabol is an accomplished geophysicist who has lived for many years in Colorado after moving to the state from New York.

Sabol lives with his partner, who works at an elementary school, and has three teenage children, Ser said.
