Not Very Beastly - Light up Ovation!!!

Post by skibikeclimbguy »

Bunny Buster? Great Northern? Lame!

The Beast claims they go bigger so why do they cater to beginners? That's some weak sauce.

Next weekend they will be on the world stage. With all the firepower currently on Supe and Skyelark, they should crush it by adding Bittersweet and Ovation. Killington's most visible front four would be unmatched in the east. (Yes, Escapade, Cascade, Downdraft, and Dip could be considered the other front four, light those up next) Killington is NOT a beginner mountain so why cater to them? Drop Ikon, let them go to Okemo, Stratton, and Mt. Snow. Killington should truly be Beastly and capture the real skiers. Drop Ikon and I'll gladly buy a Killington pass for $2,500+.

The masses who come because of Ikon will have a vastly better experience at the lesser mountains.

Killington probably wants to get more skiers in the future that's why they want to get beginners and intermediates on the mountain. My son's girlfriend just started skiing last year and she's waiting for more terrain to open because she's afraid of big crowds on the slopes.

And if they ever build the high priced Village, they need to draw the deep pocketed skiers who are usually intermediate skiers at best.

The amount of people who ski Ovation vs Snowdon at any one time can be counted on one hand. That would be a very very poor use of finite early season snowmaking time.

I hear what you're saying, but having been on North Ridge Saturday and Sunday to watch the sh!t show waterfall of people of all skill levels coming down three in a row from top to bottom, it's downright dangerous for beginners to be out there right now. That hasn't stopped them from coming. I overheard no less than two people in the lift line talking about how they were just learning how to ride (and seeing them on snow confirmed it). There was also some fool trying to protect his tiny child, clearly a beginner, slowly doing pizza wedge all the way down. If they don't open more beginner terrain for these yahoos who will show up anyway and ski whatever is open, someone is going to die.

The 2 to 6 demographic. No for sure. They get a bit older you pull them out of school for a "family event". Kids understand K.N.A.R. points. They go from diapers to college fast. Pick and choose your days. Life is short. :like :Toast
