Ben Sasse to lead University of Florida
Someone explain this to me like I'm five. Why select a Senator, and from Nebraska no less, to lead UF?

IDK, he does have experience as a University President, as well as a long career in academia. He also voted to convict Trump in the second impeachment and criticized the GOP for continuing to support him. But given the political leadership in FL it does seem like questions should be asked.

Midland's enrollment is less than half the size of my highschool ... for what it's worth. Before entering into politics, Sasse developed a career in higher education which included roles like the president of Midland University, a small private Lutheran college in Nebraska, for five years.

Aren't these public university roles often the subjects of political influence? Umass is currently headed by former congressman Marty Meehan, who doesn't even have a Ph. D.
It does kind of stink, as these roles more than most should be based on merit. But even in the business world, connections are more important than ability when it comes to scoring big-time jobs.

Learn something new everyday ... didn't know these roles were so political.
