Killington going cashless

Yup, they are making it harder to launder your drug money! They will have machines you can put cash into and turn it into a plastic card and use that, however. Sunday River did this last season or the season before. I guess nobody knows how to count money.

What are the options for children? Ones old enough to ski in a group with others, but not one old enough to give a credit card. Simply linking a card to their pass isn't a solution. Is there a method where they can be given a limited $ on their pass? Like Beast Bucks? Obviously not a new problem, just one I haven't had to deal with.

Reversed ATM machines. You put cash in the machine and you get a visa card that you can use anywhere, even outside of Killington.

I'm not sure if you can use a regular CC to purchase the prepaid visa card from the K machine. I would think you can.

Cash is obsolete, get used to it because everywhere will be cashless soon. Does not bother me in the least bit.

Agree this is a total pain - and at the end of it all maybe your card from the reverse ATM is $1 too short to buy something, or you end up with a buck or two left on a card that cant buy anything.

There used to be a good option for linking a card to a season pass but for some reason they can't figure that out.

Not to mention, I really don't like having a bunch of $4 or $6 charges to my card if I just want to buy a coffee or something. Small transactions like that are what cash is for.

Definitely a huge negative for me and my family. Terrible customer service. I expect more from Killington.

Lots more transaction fees to go cashless. It makes me think of casinos, you don't bet in cash, you must bet in chips. That way, it looks less like real money, and you feel like you might as well bet any few remaining chips as you leave. Or if you take any with you, you may never return.

While COVID lingers, there's more of a touchless payment system. It makes change infinitely more easy, there is none.

Out in the greater world though, I want cash. I talked to a waiter last year who told me their credit card tips aren't paid until the end of the month. Their cash tips they get that night. Lots of examples where cash is better. How is a 10 year old going to open a lemonade stand? (Oh, you don't take Zell, I don't have Venmo....)

What parents/grandparents want to do is go online, transfer $20 or so onto their kid’s card for the day and be done with it. If I have to leave my house to do this, then the system is flawed. If my child borrows a phone and calls up needing more money, I should be able to make that transfer from my phone, from the lift, in the lodge, whatever. Doesn’t sound like that’s possible.

Citifield is now cashless. Even the satellite parking lots won't take cash.

As far as cashless, Its easier and if you can manage your finances well enough you can put everything on a rewards card and pay it off every month.

I do often feel bad about tips though, but at the same time its not like I'm the only person tipping electronically.

Indeed. Going cashless makes their decision to go with a POS that doesn't allow resort charge look that much worse.
