monday 12/25 merry christmas report

Post by skiadikt »

kind of a dreary christmas morning on the hill. very foggy w some mist at times. at the bell, braille skiing at bear. supposed to clear. maybe they came later, but lightest turnout i've seen all season. 8-11 shift.

usual double down on the claw/burst combo. once again cream cheese, as was cruise. they did groom and open upper bitter which was thin in areas but generally ok. mid supe very good w the hw and preston's a bit loud in spots. highline getting thin. other than that, everything featured oodles of hero snow. certainly one of the best days conditions-wise. really couldn't pick an rotd.

Went out briefly, mostly to keep the streak alive. I think with tomorrow it’ll be at 4 days. IDK. That’s the trouble with streaks, it involves counting and large numbers. Snow was the cream cheese variety, as easy to carve as an overcooked Christmas dinner. Fog was highly altitude dependent, as I descended from the peak went through alternating layers like a seven layer dip. Upper Bitter was open and mostly ungroomed. Not really whales, more like smaller lumps. Pod of dolphins? IDK, it was foggy. Overall, mountain was busier than expected, skiing was good, and I arrived back home in one piece. It was like a real ski day, only shorter. Sorry, it’s just that someone told me I’d look better if I similed more. I’m kinda new to this.

On the gift front, Doria gave me a gift card to Betty Ford, completely superfluous. Killington has me on their new “12 Step” program. I’m still on step one, get financing. Someone was complaining about lack of pictures in the reports. Bah Humbug:

Fog today at Killington. Either Yodeler Woods or Yodeler Headwall. Probably the latter because I didn’t run into anything when I skied it.

Early 8:30 bubble start for us. Bunny mousetrap very nice hero snow.

Another high line Rotd. Froggy up high early that came down around 10.

Bittersweet finally opened. Thin spots with some minor wahlling

Bear still fun, lots of corduroy if you looked for it.

Saw few zoners for a merry Xmas. LINYBob, Skiadict, Bigjohn, and others.

Good couple of hours before the eating/drinking events. .

Creamy turns al around.
Early Family Skin at Pico, amazing how many folks I know on the skin track.
Afternoon screaming runs on Bear, Cruise and Sky-Road. Great undercast and sunset.
