Article says LaPierre is resigning because of health reasons, the rest of the noise written is just that, unsubstantiated accusations. FWIW, this particular prosecutor is a known to be a biased political hack with an agenda. Looks like justice is appartenly not blind and balanced anymore.....

Fox Sports host Nick Wright recounts his experience at the shooting during the Chiefs parade, where he connected with an older viewer after the incident ... the older viewer tells him a story about how her 14 year old granddaughter took the lead during the shooting to get her parents, siblings and grandparents to safety. This is who we are now ... a matter of time before someone close to you/us is killed.

I hope these “kids” involved face the full force of the law. How did they have hand guns? I’ve read somewhere it was gang related. Very unfortunate innocent civilians paid the price. The video of samaritans tackling one of them was harrowing.

Missouri state law includes no prohibitions on minors carrying or possessing firearms.

Discussions in other threads got me thinking. If modern day religious right-wingers truly were followers of Christ's teachings, they would not be pro-gun, but in fact would be the most anti-gun lobby in the U.S. When did Jesus ever pick up a weapon? When Peter used a sword to defend him, he immediately stopped him and healed the guy that he struck. Then he let himself be taken by the authorities and crucified. His apostles were nonviolent, not fighting back when they were arrested and persecuted.

If the religious right were truly followers of Christ's teachings, they would be nonviolent pacificists, like MLK and Ghandi, and would never do anything to intentionally harm a human being, even if it meant harm coming to themselves or their family. They would be against the death penalty, because no soul is irredeemable, and all must be given the opportunity for grace.

But that's not what we have, is it? What we have are a bunch of folks who think it's their god-given right to shoot people who enter their property illegally, and would guiltlessly punish with death those people that they think committed the ultimate sin. That's about as un-Christ-like as you can get. Reminds me of this:

“I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ.”

Jury finds NRA liable for mismanagement, says Wayne LaPierre violated duties

After five days of deliberations, a jury in New York on Friday held the National Rifle Association liable for financial mismanagement and found that Wayne LaPierre, the group's former CEO, corruptly ran the nation’s most prominent gun rights group.

The jury determined that LaPierre’s violation of his duties cost the NRA $5,400,000, though he already repaid roughly $1 million to the organization.

LaPierre, staring forward with his hands clasped in his lap, sat in the first row of the gallery while the jury read the verdict.

The New York Attorney General's Office sued the NRA and its senior management in 2020, claiming they misappropriated millions of dollars to fund personal benefits -- including private jets, family vacations and luxury goods. The accusations came at the end of a three-year investigation into the NRA, which is registered in New York as a nonprofit charitable corporation.

The jurors, who began deliberating on Feb. 16, were asked to weigh transactions like hair and makeup for LaPierre’s wife, payments or speaking fees to board members, and contracts with favored vendors willing to pay kickbacks.
