monday 3/4 report

Post by skiadikt »

another foggy day in killington town. viz an issue for much of our morning session. i'm a "viz matters" skier. mtn getting fugly again.

highline at the bell was groomed concrete. after that made a bee-line for bear where we thought it might be less foggy. was worse. snow conditions there quite good as they were on the supe trails. zig-zagged back & forth across the mtn looking for pockets of clearing. even took a trip down to rt 4. less fog lower down and conditions good though from the hairpin down, things are getting rather thin. not sure why they don't bury that section when they're making snow.

our quest eventually took us to the peace park on ramshead. fun but scary. swirl was in beautiful shape - hardly skied and creamy. grasping at straws maybe rotd. did the north star/vagabond sandwich. vag is on life support. NS beat. finished out on chute/GB. both good. overall skiing good but felt like we were punching the clock. since things are soft enough, if the fog clears, could turn out to be a pretty good afternoon.

Fog got old, but the snow was soft. No lift lines to speak of including the K 1. One run after lunch back to Bear and called it a day. The fog seemed to get worse after lunch.

Snow conditions good, fog not so good but we are only here for a few days so we made the best of it. Ended up being a good day overall.
