wednesday 4/6 er 3/6 report

Post by skiadikt »

actually looking more like april than early march. a couple brief spritzes but the forecasted dripping held off during the 9-12:30 shift. once again the place was a ghost town.

ski bum wednesday. highline seems to alternate good & bad days. today was a not so good day. lots of frozen trax & crud - friend call it "chicken heads". though not looking pretty, everything else skied quite well as another day of granular spring conditions prevailed. supe, needles & bear all good. nats going fast. mid vertigo should be closed. hard to connect more than a couple turns with rocks everywhere. old upper needles hanging on with large bumps. will call escapade rotd but there are now some bare spots. in the canyon both cascade & downdraft good. chute/GB a good closing run though some rocks have appeared just over the tunnel.

Early Afternoon "Report" - Getting back on the hill after having to sit out for about a week with a lower back problem. Went out yesterday [Tuesday] for just a few runs and did 9 runs today. Not at full tilt but glad to be back out.

Overall a very good day with very good snow in most places and decent viz; sun was sorta trying to break out at times and no fog or mist.

ROTD: Middle O -> Lower Supe. Nice "get back into it" small / medium, round, spaced out bumps on Middle O and very good snow on Pres's Pitch. I am sure Lower O was good as well but decided not to push it.

Lower Skyelark was also excellent with smaller, more spaced out, rounded bumps.

Stash Good. Shorty Excellent. Dream Maker Park Good. Grizzly Excellent. Shorty and Grizzly had not seen much if any traffic so plenty of untouched corn.

Same for Needle's Eye, just to the right off the beaten path. Untouched corn all the way down with some thin cover to negotiate.

OK run back down to Rte 4.
