powder monday 3/11 report
this was the big one elizabeth ... like sharks smelling blood in the water, the powder hounds were out in force today. mtn now reporting 27" in 48 hrs. hazy sun but continued to refresh most of the day. very windy. 9-1:30 shift.
the perfect one-two punch w up to 18" of lighter density snow providing the icing on yesterday's 9" of cement. at the bell tracked up GB followed by flush. heaven. both rotd candidates. hard to imagine flush was pretty much dirt 2 days ago. escapade>flume and downdraft excellent in the canyon. some wind buffing on flume. old supe's bump line filled in nicely. mid o was good. finished the combo w the preston's liftline always a fave. however the bottom section of supe was rather windblown and skied off.
conditions at bear weren't as good. either it got very soft yesterday, maybe some r*in or a very late groom but in the limited skiing we did there, a bit crispy underneath. upper claw good as was lower WF. stash/maker combo decent. ol was huge frozen bumps w lots of frozen crud. not good. at needles thimble>vertigo good. upper lark skied well. lower variable.
conclusion quite good. trees are back open for business big time. anarchy excellent. patsies very good. low rider absolutely loaded. another rotd candidate. best the snowdon trees have skied all season.

Re: powder monday 3/11 report
Numerous trails early were excellent. Mr & Mrs G in the Glades. Ridge Run curiously flat, or completely filled in. South Ridge paid off gorgeously. Bear main trails on the way up SPE looked like a poor idea. Old Supe, far better idea. Middle O pretty good but more windblown. Lower Supe late am WROTD for me. World Cup Ice showing up, straggler wedging criss crossers, hard jagged bumps under the snow. Red Rider sighting on Superstar maze & chair. Mainline woods skied in, but off mainline untouched snow was fabulous. Still finding pillowy soft freshly dusted turns late afternoon - great day.

Re: powder monday 3/11 report
Afternoon Report: Still nursing a bad back so not skiing anywhere near 100% but did get out for the 2:00 - 4:20 shift. Stayed "West" between the Canyon and Rams Head as I expected not as good at Bear [at my house we got the initial 10" or so of cement, but did not get much of anything after that]. Just what the mountain needed and why couldn't we have gotten this earlier in the season before the 40 plus inches of blower pow that didn't have anywhere to stick to !
At Snowdon, Chute -> Great Bear very good. Later on Highline very beat up but still good and nice pow at the bottom.
Rams Head: Went over to save the back and several runs on Swirl [ROTD] and Header with constant refresh. Caper OK back to Snowdon.
LEF beat up but good. Escapade very good though some ice showing through in a coupla places. Flume Excellent.
