saturday 4/27 report

Post by skiadikt »

another blockbuster day. warm temps. maybe not as pretty as yesterday but a mix of hazy sun and clouds. pretty good crowd. another bell-to-bell day.

great to have one last hurrah in the canyon and NR. excellent groom on cascade at the bell - edgeable firm. 3-peat. NR also skied well. trap & lower bunny good.

supe, lark & bitter at the in-between stage by the time we got over there. panic/needles still skiing very well. plenty of snow but unless they farm, would be surprised if the return trip survives. mid-o bumps getting more mature. a bit of patchwork quilt highline skied well.

back up in the canyon. good bumps but escapade's another one that's fading fast. downdraft big firmish bumps. similar on double dip. returned to supe for the afternoon/power hour shift. preferred mid o over supe.

Downdraft firmish... yes, but not in the usual concrete meaning. These were big, spined, and very edgable. Welded corn.

7:30 bay one thanks to Spyderman reserving a few spots for the tables. Started near the bell with GIS and crew.
Firm up top as usual. Soft by 10:30 everywhere.

Found Skiergirl, Powday and Spanky on the NR.
Cascade better and DD being the rotd for me.

Great BBQ with the G’s, Moose and many other zoners.

Perfect day on the hill for sure. Good pic of Spanky and Powday on DD.

Afternoon Report: See above !

Nice to have "Up Top" open again. FIS was interesting with good cover once you got past the start. Was better than the other Great Northern option to get across. Rime OK with more than a Touch of Gray glacier in play.

Ridge Run very good except for two longish sections where the hard left slip / slide was the only option to preserve the ski bases. Skipped on Power Line. Double Dipper as already explained above. Big ! Very edgeable, even in the troughs and quite a workout with a bit of thought required to get past a coupla spots. Heard Downdraft was similar.

ROTD: Late Day Highline. Really good and only had to jig/jog in two places to get to the good cover. Also easy at the exit to make it over to Supe for the Power Hour.

Liked Panic -> Needle's Eye option the best at Supe pod. Definitely single track on the way back from the top of Snowshed butt is was doable. Skyehawk great with very good cover overall. Supe TTB very good as well.

Great Apres in the Lots after the closing bell. We stuck with our group partway down the access road and drove by the Ditch party on our way out.

Lots of people in town for the "Bonus Weekend" though many of them left mid-day as the conditions got bigger. So, not bad for late day parking.
