Glycol is added in the coolers. No methanol anywhere. Snomax is an additive if they run that. But I’m not a big fan or believer in the stuff - everyone has their own opinion there. If Killington runs snomax that’s got to be a hefty bill, no thanks.

Snow sticks around due to weather. That’s it. It melts when hot. It melts with r*in. You get dirt in it, melts faster. That’s it.

Yes Snowmax is a waste of money in most cases. Hefty price tag.

Glycol loops are used to cool the Centacs (compressors) where water is not ready available. Otherwise they use water loops.

the snow is still going strong because its freezing or close to it at night and it has been extremely dry. where i am we have a high forest fire risk currently.

snowmax would only be beneficial in early season, when temps are marginal right? can't see k using that. I think Massanutten in VA uses it a lot. while they have elevation, they don't have temps down there.

snow additives aside: the long weekend looking like a 4 for 4: sunny/sunny/mostly sunny/mostly sunny. cool nites and reasonable highs. no rest soon for quads and thighs!

Yes, and AFAIK they do use it.

^^ we jinxed it with cocky talk about june ;0]
time to talk about sunday/monday!

that said i'm confident ops has a plan involving letting bare spots get soaked by day and covering them once the cold returns tonite and getting a solid bond. will be cool tomorrow nite too.
remember we had hike-to looking patches before june 4 last year and ended up with a decent continuous line of snow. and we're in world's better shape - for now!

gonna treat this weekend like this weekend is IT

I believe they've begun using gps technology to monitor snow depth below machines during grooming.

^^ yup but agreed jimmy w: getting this far was not expected by most who post here. when we entered spring with a lesser build - and then got torched mid-april -i worried for even may 14.
we've been very fortunate weather-wise and have great weather coming up for the entire 4 days. maybe we'll even get to keep our skis on at the headwall and lift corral!
to that i say FKNA!
