The times I heard them, it sounded more like "bathroom" than "living room". The Patrick Gym at UVM and the old Boston Garden weren't exactly the best acoustics. Every bootleg recording I've ever heard captures all the crap acoustics, too.

Are you freaking kidding...... you must have had shltty seats, or shltty acid . . anywhere FOB pretty much ruled....anywhere...

GD recordings represent the penultimate of bootlegs.... try anything on archive.org . . .especially things remastered by Charlie Miller....

and btw . . . Life's too short so quit complaining about everything including K

For many, the Dead were at the core of a certain way of life and their music still provides a temporary escape from all those irritating grown up things like work, taxes, mortgages, law suits, in-laws, etc.

I don’t know, but I’ve heard some truly amazing shows in the old Boston Garden (and a clunker or two). Some of the bootleg recordings are utterly fantastic and with more and more stuff being released from the sound board, we still have a lot of material to go – no wonder Sirius has a whole channel dedicated to their music.

Sorry for the weak reply.
You obviously have no idea what Elvis accomplished.

Elvis Albums
Elvis Hit Songs
Elvis Movies & TV

And you have no idea what Jerry accomplished.

Tread lightly here. She still reads the forum even if she doesn't post here anymore.

Also, you're replying to a 2 year old post.
The first difference I think of is that Garcia wrote his own songs (with Hunter to be exact). Elvis was just the voice and looks for someone else's creativity.

I really, really gotta take exception to comments like that. Yo-Yo Ma never wrote a single piece of music that I'm aware of. No one would ever question his genius with the cello.

Ditto Frank Sinatra. No one, NO ONE, could phrase the way that man did.
He may not have written the songs, but he OWNED them.
Still good points, even two years later. : - )

Comments:
The first set probably has no more than one analog generation, and may bave even been a DAT clone of the master. The audience recording mastered by Steve Rolfe is of high quality and supplies the 2nd set.

Notes:
--Sound Forge was used for normalization and a slight pitch correction for the sbd portion. There were also several amplitude fluctuations in the first set that were adjusted.
--splice in Drums at 9:36

15 years gone, but still here today.

Garcia was and remains the most diverse and dynamic musician I've ever heard.

Blues, Jazz, Psychedelic Rock, Bluegrass, Motown, Rock and Roll

the man did it all.

Thank you Jerry

So Many Roads looks like it was from Oct 1, 1994 at the Boston Garden. My last Grateful Dead show and one of their best from 1994.
