Israeli forces enter Lebanon...
Israel is now invading Lebanon to find 2 soldiers who were captured by Hezbollah. Yippee. At what point will the current global conflict be considered WW3?

I know I used this the other day, but I think it's more than applicable here:

Agree it shouldn't be our problem.
I also agree that ASC should just up and leave Killington tomorrow.

Given our complete dependence on the region for energy, it is our problem and will remain thus as long as we need their oil.St. Jerry wrote:ski_adk wrote:Israel is now invading Lebanon to find 2 soldiers who were captured by Hezbollah. Really, pray tell how when the stated goal of one of the parties is to wipe the other off the face of the earth.SkiDork wrote:This actually saddens me. I thought the peace process had a chance.
You think Israel will go to the UN to get the OK to defend itself and get back their soldiers? I hope so, we all know how effective the UN is in dealing with terrorism.

I don't fear this is going to be bad, I fear this may be the final spark for WW III. Isreal will be the spark that finally ignites the entire area against non muslims. Our troops will be just as much a target as an Isreali soldier in the region. If things get really bad, Isreal or someone else will drop a NUKE.

The US and Israel are accusing Hezbollah, other terror groups, Syria, and Iran of having a part in the hostage taking.
The news just reported that Israel may strike Syria.
This is certainly the start of what could be WW III.
I hope we can get our troops out before it goes to hell.
We won't get our guys out...we'll just circle the wagons until the next wave of recruits and guardsmen can get there. If this is the start of WWIII, lets just hope that Iran hasn't yet gotten the bomb. If they have, lets just hope they're not trigger happy.

Why you worried about Iran. ISREAL has the bomb and will use it should things deteriorate too fast or too far. Should the Middle East suddenly turn against them all at once, they WILL destroy either Syria or Iran.ski_adk wrote:We won't get our guys out...we'll just circle the wagons until the next wave of recruits and guardsmen can get there. On a lighter note, this could end global warming rather quickly. Just watch out for the Nuclear Winter.
(ps. Having worked on Nukes and been at defcon 3 a number of times, my comment is tongue in cheek)
