I have a friend who is stuck at her house off river road. Anyone know if anything is left of that road or the condition of the town offices / pool etc...? Not sure what she's going to be hiking down to?

I don't believe there is any way in or out of Killington at this time.

From Vermont Today:
In Killington, there is no way in and no way out. Route 4 both ways is missing chunks of road deeming them impassable and Route 100 north of the Route 4 intersection has also washed away. Town Manager Kathleen Ramsay said she is coordinating volunteers to help people stranded. When I asked her what's going to happen in case of an emergency, the phone went silent. "I don't know," she said.

Did Killington Resort itself suffer any damage besides the KBL?

the entire area from K to MRG is largely destroyed, we did damage survey and checked on friends via ATV between bethel and pittsfield. 1/2 mile or better sections of roadway missing everywhere, mudslides, many many bridges out miles of powerlines down or gone completely. Everyone in this area is isolated from any services. Assisted power co personnel on dirtbikes find their way through the woods to skirt impassable areas. FEMA copters flying overhead as well. It will be a while before anyone around here can even go anywhere besides out to look at damage and check on friends. We are off to get clean drinking water and supplies to some less fortunate neighbors.

Just called a friend who lives next to the Grist Mill and he reports that there is no power where he's at. No way in and out of Killington. Access road businesses seem to be in relatively good shape. Reports are that Long Trail Brewery is flooded but still standing.

K posted on Facebook that they are evaluating damage to the resort. They made it sound like they would be open for mountain biking soon. They're lost if they think they can open for business when the surrounding communities are devastated.

Killington Resort and the surrounding communities have suffered flood damage from Tropical Storm Irene.

Crews are out assessing damages around the resort including structural deterioration to base lodges, lifts and roads as well as power outages.

Following an initial overview of the storm's aftermath, the K-1 Lodge Superstar Pub's structural integrity was compromised by the volume of water running off of Roaring Brook, dislodging the building from its foundation. Killington Resort's lift towers and structures, lodging properties and Golf Course have sustained minimal damage.

Summer operations of the K-1 Lodge, hiking and Golf Course will reopen after crews assess the damages. Mountain biking will tentatively resume after assessment of the trail network is complete. Pico Mountain summer operations are now closed for the season.

Killington Resort plans to open on schedule for the 2011-12 winter season.

As power and phone service are re-established at Killington Resort, more updates will be forthcoming.

skilab wrote:Unbelievable. Does anyone know the conditions of the roads and if it is even possible to get to K today? from some of the photos I've seen online it look like rt 4 is washed out from Rutland and Woodstock.

From someone who is up there, she told me, maybe a month.
