Police say Lanza used an assault weapon last month to kill 20 children and six adults at the elementary school after killing his mother, Nancy Lanza, at their Sandy Hook home.

But the AR-15 style rifle — the most popular rifle in America, according to gun dealers — was also the weapon of choice for Adam Lanza, who the police said used one made by Bushmaster on Friday to kill 20 young children and six adults in an elementary school in Newtown, Conn., in a massacre that has horrified the nation.

A .223-calibre Bushmaster was the gun used by the Newtown shooter to kill his multiple victims. The deadly speed at which the weapon can be manipulated was underlined by the fact that the Newtown shooter carried out his massacre in under 10 minutes.

It has now been revealed that Lanza taped two cartridge magazines to his .223 calibre rifle so he could reload as quickly as possible and continue his killing spree,

The primary weapon used in the Connecticut school massacre — a semiautomatic assault rifle — has a history in high-profile incidents of gun violence in the U.S.

The .223-caliber Bushmaster rifle also was the weapon of choice in the 2002 Washington-area sniper shootings, which left 10 dead and three wounded in a series of attacks that terrorized the capital region.

A semi-automatic Bushmaster assault rifle, similar to the M4 carbine used by the U.S. military, was used in most of the school killings, according to Connecticut State Police.

I've actually been supporting your position numbnuts. Get a grip. I just find it ironic and humorous when someone calls out someone else for being stupid and can't get the spelling correct. Kind of like Dr. NO telling someone to learn English and misspelling English several years ago. If you can't laugh at stuff like that, including your own mistakes, you've lost it altogether.

damn dam goddam goddamn that was the best you can do? or SOOOOO important that it just HAD to be commented upon? seriously, the BS around here is so pathetic. I understand everyone wants to attack the madhatter, but if you are gonna make a personal attack at least make it a halfway good one huh? I try to stay on topic as much as possible and give every poster the chance to clarify their position, support it or retract it. After that, it is what it is and anything is fair game. I don't harp on typos and spelling unless it's the SAME error over and over again by the same poster. If someone actually has a legitimate argument or POV on something I'm willing to entertain it, but that is RARELY if ever the case here. Most, if not all of the opposition here is grossly uninformed/misinformed, and adamantly so.

Really? See the second post in this thread. DMC posted his viewpoint. Right or wrong as it may be, you simply went off and attacked him. Did you respond to his position? I don't think so.

As for harping on your error, I was simply pointing out the irony of it. You have a little trouble laughing at yourself? We all make stupid mistakes, even when calling other people stupid. It's funny sometimes.

Really? See the second post in this thread. DMC posted his viewpoint. Right or wrong as it may be, you simply went off and attacked him. Did you respond to his position? I don't think so.it's the same position he;s taken on a number of topics, rubberstamp obama approval, he's been called out on the subject of gun control numerous times and just continues on with his "toy" meme, exploitation of children, "see the difference between a 22 and ar-15" etc. and decrees of "who should have what cuz he says so" that he see's nothing wrong with anything obama says is a given, and nothing that he spent even a second "thinking" about. DMC's position is continually devoid of fact and is invalid as an opinion of record as his uninformed/misinformed statements are blatant fallacies if not sheer stupidity. When your opinion is based on empirical evidence it is worthy of consideration, when it's the equivalent of " da Bears" not so much... starting a new thread on the same topic to avoid being called out on a previous thread is BS too. Continually stating a false position in an attempt to drown out the opposition is a lame tactic as well, and one that bears little fruit. So to recap, his opinion was he sees nothing wrong, I commented on his opinion, not the hopey dope directives he was stating his opinion on.

As for harping on your error, I was simply pointing out the irony of it. You have a little trouble laughing at yourself? ha ha, like I said if ya at least made it a good one, instead of a harp on typo, I also type teh in place of the, and accidentally use ; instead of ' cuz I am not much of a typist. I'm glad to have made your day.
His strategy:
* Require criminal background checks for all gun sales. Can I assume, therefore, that you are against criminal background checks as they infringe on a criminal's right to purchase a gun?
* Take four executive actions to ensure information on dangerous individuals is available to the background check system.
* Reinstate and strengthen the assault weapons ban.
* Restore the 10-round limit on ammunition magazines.
* Protect police by finishing the job of getting rid of armor-piercing bullets.
* Give law enforcement additional tools to prevent and prosecute gun crime. Does this infringe?
* End the freeze on gun violence research. Does this infringe?
* Make our schools safer with more school resource officers and school counselors, safer climates, and better emergency response plans.Does this infringe?
* Help ensure that young people get the mental health treatment they need. Does this infringe?
* Ensure health insurance plans cover mental health benefits. Does this infringe?

Executive orders.....
1. Issue a Presidential Memorandum to require federal agencies to make relevant data available to the federal background check system.
2. Address unnecessary legal barriers, particularly relating to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, that may prevent states from making information available to the background check system.
3. Improve incentives for states to share information with the background check system.
4. Direct the Attorney General to review categories of individuals prohibited from having a gun to make sure dangerous people are not slipping through the cracks.
5. Propose rule making to give law enforcement the ability to run a full background check on an individual before returning a seized gun.
6. Publish a letter from ATF to federally licensed gun dealers providing guidance on how to run background checks for private sellers.
7. Launch a national safe and responsible gun ownership campaign.
8. Review safety standards for gun locks and gun safes (Consumer Product Safety Commission).
9. Issue a Presidential Memorandum to require federal law enforcement to trace guns recovered in criminal investigations.
10. Release a DOJ report analyzing information on lost and stolen guns and make it widely available to law enforcement.
11. Nominate an ATF director.
12. Provide law enforcement, first responders, and school officials with proper training for active shooter situations.
13. Maximize enforcement efforts to prevent gun violence and prosecute gun crime.
14. Issue a Presidential Memorandum directing the Centers for Disease Control to research the causes and prevention of gun violence.
15. Direct the Attorney General to issue a report on the availability and most effective use of new gun safety technologies and challenge the private sector to develop innovative technologies.
16. Clarify that the Affordable Care Act does not prohibit doctors asking their patients about guns in their homes.
17. Release a letter to health care providers clarifying that no federal law prohibits them from reporting threats of violence to law enforcement authorities.
18. Provide incentives for schools to hire school resource officers.
19. Develop model emergency response plans for schools, houses of worship and institutions of higher education.
20. Release a letter to state health officials clarifying the scope of mental health services that Medicaid plans must cover.
21. Finalize regulations clarifying essential health benefits and parity requirements within ACA exchanges.
22. Commit to finalizing mental health parity regulations.
23. Launch a national dialogue led by Secretaries Sebelius and Duncan on mental health.
Seems to me you want to make broad, sweeping statements without basis at times too.

No... why would you say that?

I think if you want a gun - you should go through a background check... I know it sound simplistic and I'm sure I'll get a horrible onslaught of red marked personal attacks.. But I agree with this.. Details need to be worked out but I support this..

I do not trust this administration in the least, benghazi, F&F, bogus jobs numbers etc etc, I am opposed to any federal expansion of powers especially by this corrupt administration. What individual states want to do is up to them within the guidelines of the constitution. Obama;s directives are vague and open ended with no actual substance to them at all and do little to nothing to combat the actual problem, which is the criminal, not the method employed by said criminal. These type of directives and the purveying attitude among the anti gun crowd are ripe for exploitation, as I attempted to point out in the case of the admitted illegal killing of muskrats and stated intention to harm a bear with rubber bullets.
