Meanwhile, the Black Lives Matter movement and the Democratic candidates continue to dance.

Democractic candidates will eliminate swing voters if the acknowledge black lives matter ... I think the majority of those that vote feel all lives matter.

Obama on Fathers Day at the Apostolic Church of God in Chicago in 2008
Of all the rocks upon which we build our lives, we are reminded today that family is the most important. And we are called to recognize and honor how critical every father is to that foundation. They are teachers and coaches. They are mentors and role models. They are examples of success and the men who constantly push us toward it.

But if we are honest with ourselves, we’ll admit that what too many fathers also are is missing — missing from too many lives and too many homes. They have abandoned their responsibilities, acting like boys instead of men. And the foundations of our families are weaker because of it.

You and I know how true this is in the African-American community. We know that more than half of all black children live in single-parent households, a number that has doubled — doubled — since we were children. We know the statistics — that children who grow up without a father are five times more likely to live in poverty and commit crime; nine times more likely to drop out of schools and 20 times more likely to end up in prison. They are more likely to have behavioral problems, or run away from home or become teenage parents themselves. And the foundations of our community are weaker because of it.
7 years have gone by and this root cause of the permanent underclass has not been addressed. Instead, it's somehow the fault of the police in Ferguson and Baltimore.

If the father is as indifferent to education as the mother, I'm not sure how much of a solution that is. One parent households might still be the symptom, not the problem. Obama's comments assume a responsible, good influence father. Is that always the case? The problem might be the ethic of the parent(no matter if there is one or two), the effort the parent makes to instill values and be sure the child does well in school. Many poor people have that ethic, and do well as a result.

Don't we have a single parent President?

There needs to be a stemming of the tide. Local politicians, business people, clergy, athletes, music idols and moviemakers all need to embrace the cultural change that needs to occur. They need to be outspoken about what is the primary road out of poverty, and that is hard work and education. Not complaining, not 'free' stuff, not drug culture, not crime, not violence, not gangs, not lottery tickets. It's time to stop blaming teachers.

At $10,000 per year (Typical big city costs) each child gets a $120,000 free* educational opportunity to get them started in life. Children with special needs can get 3-4 times that much. That's a third world dream come true. What you do with that dream is up to you. The perceived value of that dream needs to be recognized and promoted heavily. If you waste it, how are you going to get it back?

And on a related note, ask yourself why there are ads for the lottery? How sick is that? TV ads for tobacco and liquor are illegal, but ads to suck money out of the low income population is ok?

*Not really free, most pay it back in adulthood through property taxes.

TV liquor ads are not illegal.

Hero's father: "It's better to die like a Lyon than to be slaughtered like sheep. The terrorist coward deserves what he got and the PC crowd needs to recognize terrorism for what it is."

Put that in your pipe and smoke it President Obama.

For ONCE in wasn't ME. :Toast

Would not be surprised if the BO administration will come out against the military personnel who stopped that terrorist on the train. AWOL and being a traitor are OK, but don't do something right like stop a killer while in our military.

Kinda hard since the Frnwech have already given them their highest honor.

A Purple Heart and DSC would actually be in order.

The way he's been handing out the MoH since he got in, they could also get that.

As compared to what? Are you suggesting he's giving out the MoH to unworthy recipients?

Exactly.

Not so much the current service members but the ones that go back over 100 years.

Obviously he awarded those for social reasons.

Only one example, but this gentleman seemed appropriate for the MoH given his personal acts of valor above and beyond the call of duty
