Non-skiers at Peak Lodge

Post by Chardonnay Queen »

Is anyone else annoyed at the non-skiers taking up chairs and tables at the Peak Lodge reading their books? Perhaps that would bea better off-season activity? Keep the seats for skiers!

A couple of weeks ago there several tables of lone non-skiers saving tables for their families. We found seats, ate lunch and left and two of thoses tables remained empty except for Mom saving table. Very annoying.

i suppose as long as they pay for a lift ticket they can rudely monopolize a seat.

:bang I just ski mid-week so I don't have the problem. But if I did I would just sit at the table in a vacant seat.

This past Thursday at 1:00pm there were people standing around waiting for a table to become available. The Peak Lodge is so nice, they should have made it bigger, or better yet, stuck to the original plan.

Meanwhile, Friday at 1:00pm the Vermont Fresh Cafe in the Snowshed Lodge was almost empty. The view was not nearly as nice, but the food and drink was just as good.

This.

I'd probably strike up a good conversation.

Probably the same crowd who won't let a single on an open spot on the lift.

I think the same topic came up when they decided to remove a level from the plans. Really should have left it on.

I'm sorry. How many non-skiers are there out of how many seats? And is this any different from any of the base lodges? Seems to me that you're blowing this "problem" out of proportion.

Their green is the same as your green. They pay the toll they're good to go. It's not us against them. It's about having a good time and enjoying both the skiing and the social side of the sport. Lighten up Francis. :-)

I saw a whole table Saturday afternoon - about 10 - at a table with full meals and drinks - must of spent 250 to 500 on the whole trip.

That's what the peak is for - making money.

Just think that the ski ops budget goes up every time one of those non-skiers is buying a gondi ticket, and eating and drinking up there.

It's almost pure profit for the mountain.

It is 10 dollars.

I have no problem with non skiers/riders coming up and occupying seats, however just like any restaurant, they should be putting money in the til, paying their rent so to speak. I do have issues with people saving entire tables, at the peak lodge or anywhere else on the mountain. Peak lodge seats about 300; there are more than 10000 people on the hill when it is busy. The lodge is the "new thing" and lots of people want to see it; gotta turn the tables 30x if everyone actually goes in and sits for a bit. Not going to happen.
