This all just smells bad...

Attorney general slow-walks discovery of documents in EB-5 fraud case
By Anne Galloway
Mar 21 2021

State officials — who were required to protect the interests of EB-5 investors — have thwarted a lawsuit seeking damages by throwing up roadblocks in the years since the case was filed. Now the Vermont Attorney General’s Office is using the discovery process — in which opposing attorneys are allowed to discover evidence held by the other side — as a way to thwart the investors’ attempt to seek recourse.

Russell Barr, lead attorney for the investors, said the latest efforts to “obstruct” the case are another example of the state acting in “bad faith.”

They are and have been dragging their feet with all of the documents since the beginning. They know people like Leahy, Sanders and alike have some dirt on their hands in this mess and want to throw shade at them.

It looks as if legal issues are moving along toward resolution. That should help with getting things sold.

Finally, it looks like one or more people from the Shumlin administration are potentially tied (legally) to the scam.
A new court filing includes a list of people who federal prosecutors allegedly said “could qualify” as co-conspirators in the massive Jay Peak Resort fraud case but have not been charged.

The filing was submitted Monday by defense attorneys for former Jay Peak President and CEO Bill Stenger, who is under criminal indictment.

The names listed in Stenger’s filing include Alex MacLean, who served as deputy chief of staff and campaign manager for former Vermont Gov. Peter Shumlin. MacLean went to work for Jay Peak in 2013 and managed the Renaissance Project, a proposed office building on Main Street in Newport that never materialized.
