Insurer says Quiros owes the company, not other way around

An insurance company is firing back at Jay Peak owner Ariel Quiros, disputing his claim that it has to fund his defense that tops $2 million as he fights off investor fraud lawsuits.
And, in a twist, Ironshore Indemnity Inc. is asking a judge to force Quiros to pay for its cost of defending itself from the lawsuit the Miami businessman brought seeking the coverage.
“Quiros is not entitled to relief to the extent he seeks coverage for self-dealing or fraudulent acts under the Policy,” Joseph G. Galardi, a Florida attorney representing the insurer, wrote in a recent filing.

I would think that any potential buyer would be shy of basically buying into a potential lawsuit. This sentence if it could happen would be important to flush any potential buyers out of the sidelines.
They’ll also get to weigh in on whether any settlement Goldberg negotiates should include what’s known as a “bar order” — essentially, a ban on any further legal action, once any settlement does go through.

Visconti said her client’s past team had a “contentious” approach, which she said has “not served Mr. Quiros well so far.”
The attorney described her client as “very distressed.”
“He’s not doing much because all of his businesses and assets are frozen,” Visconti said.
The change in strategy, she said, will hopefully lead to a “global resolution” of the the cases against Quiros.
