20% Chance Of Ebola In USA By October; 277,124 Global Cases By Year-End, Model Predicts

http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2014-09-1 ... l-predicts" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The deadly Ebola epidemic raging across West Africa will likely get far worse before it gets better, more than doubling the number of known cases by the end of this month.

That’s the word from disease modelers at Northeastern University and the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, who predict as many as 10,000 cases of Ebola virus disease could be detected by Sept. 24 – and thousands more after that.

“The epidemic just continues to spread without any end in sight,” said Dr. Ira Longini, a biostatistician at the the University of Florida and an affiliated member of Fred Hutch’s Vaccine and Infectious Disease and Public Health Sciences divisions. “The cat’s already out of the box – way, way out.”

It’s only a matter of time, they add, before the virus could start spreading to other places, including previously unaffected countries in Africa and developed nations like the United Kingdom -- and the U.S., according to a paper published Sept. 2 in the journal PLOS Currents Outbreaks.

There’s a roughly 25 percent chance Ebola will be detected in the United Kingdom– and as much as an 18 percent chance it will turn up in the U.S. – by the end of September, the analysis of global mobility and epidemic patterns shows. The new paper includes the top 16 countries where Ebola is most likely to spread.

Guess ya can make that 100% chance now...

Contained? Dallas Hospital Discharged Sick Ebola Patient 2 Days Before Isolation

http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2014-10-0 ... -isolation" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

A man with Ebola in Dallas was initially sent home from the hospital with antibiotics after seeking treatment for an unknown illness, officials said.

..
The man is being kept in isolation in an intensive care unit. He had no symptoms when he left Liberia and began to show signs of the disease on Sept. 24, the CDC said. He sought care on Sept. 26, was hospitalized two days later at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital and is critically ill, said CDC Director Thomas Frieden.

It's hard to believe he was not hospitalized the first time he went to the hospital given he had come from Liberia a couple of weeks earlier. Had the doctors heard of the Ebola outbreak in Africa?

How Bad Could It Get? US Government Order Of 160,000 HazMat Suits Gives A Clue

http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2014-10-0 ... gives-clue" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Now that Ebola is officially in the US on an uncontrolled basis, the two questions on everyone's lips are i) who will get sick next and ii) how bad could it get?

We don't know the answer to question #1 just yet, but when it comes to the second one, a press release three weeks ago from Lakeland Industries, a manufacturer and seller of a "comprehensive line of safety garments and accessories for the industrial protective clothing market" may provide some insight into just how bad the US State Department thinks it may get. Because when the US government buys 160,000 hazmat suits specifically designed against Ebola, just ahead of the worst Ebola epidemic in history making US landfall, one wonders: what do they know the we don't?

Of course, purchases by the US government are bought and paid for by taxpayers. For everyone else there's $1200 mail-order delivery:

The Ebola epidemic is now officially off the charts

http://easyhealthoptions.com/ebola-epid ... ly-charts/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

A study at the University of Warwick, in England, shows that the current spread of Ebola has broken out of all the conventional models and is now “out of proportion.”

The research demonstrates that the characteristics of past Ebola events no longer apply to the current epidemic.

According to researcher Thomas House, Ebola today is spreading “on an unprecedented scale when compared to previous outbreaks.”

As a result, House warns, we can’t be sure what will happen next in this health emergency: “If we analyze the data from past outbreaks we are able to design a model that works for the recorded cases of the virus spreading and can successfully replicate their eventual size. The current outbreak does not fit this previous pattern and, as a result, we are not in a position to provide an accurate prediction of the current outbreak.”

Now, however, House warns that the severity and size of the current outbreak signals that the disease has entered uncharted territory and chance events are not driving the spread of the disease.

“With the current situation we are seeing something that defies this previous pattern of outbreak severity. As the current outbreak becomes more severe, it is less and less likely that it is a chance event and more likely that something more fundamental has changed,” says Dr House.

expect that to be the norm until there is an official " outbreak" and precautions taken the symptoms will almost always be identified as the common cold or flu, there is no specific test for Ebola, mot hospitals are also completely unable to handle any kind of outbreak should one occur...There simply aren't enough isolation wards available, and not enough trained personnel to treat any potential victims once they are identified...The possibility of containment right now is quite good, but that window is small...any wider spread to population centers, especially among poor and transients and it will quickly become a nightmare of an epidemic ...

This one pegs the meter on internet kookdom. The ZeroHedge copy & pastes. The wild claims about an outbreak of a disease that can pretty much only be transmitted via bodily fluids. If you work in an ER? Yeah, wear a mask and use alcohol hand lotion all the time. I supposed MadHater is going to rummage through the hospital biowaste dumpster and pick up Ebola. For the rest of us, the odds are incredibly low that we'd ever catch Ebola.

Texas Ebola patient made contact with school-aged children after hospital sent him home — 2 days before they quarantined him

Gov. Rick Perry said all the kids have been identified and are being monitored at home. It’s unclear if the children were the Dallas patient’s own. The patient went to the hospital on Friday, but he wasn’t put into isolation until two days later because doctors didn’t ask about his travel history, sources said.

Miles: 5 DISD students possibly exposed to Ebola

Dallas ISD superintendent Mike Miles revealed five students from four different district schools may have been exposed to the virus.

Miles identified the schools as:

Conrad High School
Tasby Middle School
Hotchkiss Elementary School
Dan D. Rogers Elementary School
Jack Lowe Sr. Elementary School

how many of these people were in an ER? any idea why the CDC would order 160k of them specially designed ebola suits? must be for the 2 or 3 people that are likely to get it huh? yer stupid comments have no bounds do they?

Ebola In America: The Confirmed Case In Dallas, Texas Could Change Everything

http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2014-10-0 ... everything" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I have no idea how they can say these things when the outbreak over in Africa is completely and totally out of control. Despite extreme precautions, hundreds of health workers have gotten the virus, and so far global health officials have not even been able to slow down the exponential growth of the Ebola pandemic in West Africa.

And our health officials should not be so dogmatic about how this virus spreads either.

In a previous article, I discussed a study that was conducted back in 2012 that demonstrated that Ebola could be transmitted through the air between pigs and monkeys that did not have physical contact with one another...

When news broke that the Ebola virus had resurfaced in Uganda, investigators in Canada were making headlines of their own with research indicating the deadly virus may spread between species, through the air.

The team, comprised of researchers from the National Centre for Foreign Animal Disease, the University of Manitoba, and the Public Health Agency of Canada, observed transmission of Ebola from pigs to monkeys. They first inoculated a number of piglets with the Zaire strain of the Ebola virus. Ebola-Zaire is the deadliest strain, with mortality rates up to 90 percent. The piglets were then placed in a room with four cynomolgus macaques, a species of monkey commonly used in laboratories. The animals were separated by wire cages to prevent direct contact between the species.

Within a few days, the inoculated piglets showed clinical signs of infection indicative of Ebola infection. In pigs, Ebola generally causes respiratory illness and increased temperature. Nine days after infection, all piglets appeared to have recovered from the disease.

Within eight days of exposure, two of the four monkeys showed signs of Ebola infection. Four days later, the remaining two monkeys were sick too. It is possible that the first two monkeys infected the other two, but transmission between non-human primates has never before been observed in a lab setting.

There is much that we don't understand about this disease.

I can understand the need to keep the public calm, but why don't these officials just tell us the truth?

At the same time that they are telling us that there is no chance that there will be an Ebola epidemic in the United States, they are also sending out guidelines to funeral homes on how to deal with dead Ebola victims...

Every week it's another issue that is helped along by Obama's incompetence . Open borders , Ebola and Terrorists . I think Obama's plan is to cause such unrest in the Country that he can claim Marshall law and cancell the elections. Wait that Marshall was his Father , it's Martial law.
