NFC playoffs

Could the Eagles or Dallas finish at 11-5 and one of them NOT make the playoffs in the NFC ? Meanwhile New Orleans could win the NFC south with a losing record of say 7-9 and make the playoffs. Should the NFL overhaul it's playoff format ? ......... Eagle and Boy's fans will be pissed off if the team goes 11-5 and doesn't even make the playoffs !

See the AFC east for 2008. In that year, an 11-5 team did not make the playoffs either. No one changed the format after that.

clearly the wild card in baseball was invented w the red sox in mind, but that's a topic for a different thread...

In the NFL there are already 2 wildcard ( and 4 division) playoff teams in each conference... do we really need more spots? are we now going to have a div champ and runner up in each div for a ttl of 8 teams to add that proposed " extra" game? it always sux when a .500 or less team gets to host a playoff game but it happens...sometimes while a much better team in another division watches on tv...

Who walks the stairs without a care
It shoots so high in the sky.
Bounce up and down just like a clown
Everyone knows its Slinky.

The best present yet to give or get
The kids will all want to try.
The hit of the day when you are ready to play
Everyone knows it's Slinky.

It's Slinky, It's Slinky
for fun the best of the toys.
It's Slinky, It's Slinky
the favorite of girls and boys.

They should change it that so even if a team wins their division that they shouldn't host a 1st round game against a team with a better record.

That would probably never fly but not much can really be done.

Everyone should make the playoffs. It's not fair otherwise. In fact, everyone should get a trophy at the end of the season, so their feelings aren't hurt.

So ... advocating an NHL format for the NFL ?
Even with 64 teams in NCAA hoops, someone gets the 'horn'.

Playing well during the regular season is meaningful.
8-8 seasons and a Super Bowl title are quite rare
