While almost completely wrong on policy, Bernie is certainly tapping into the frustrations felt by many Americans; frustrations about the economy, income growth, wealth inequality and the influence of money in politics.

yep he sure is and to the ill informed it sounds like the promised land cometh...plenty of scapegoats and no viable solutions, that should turn out well....

Saw this yesterday. Someone in a 1%er car that wants to reduce wealth inequality by putting a bumper sticker on their display of wealth.

How does one know someone's wealth by the car they drive?

Can I just take a minute to bemoan the lack of good candidates? I don't want an idiot like Trump but I don't want a radical lefty like Sanders.

Why don't we have any decent moderates?

At least in MA we have a pretty good governor in Baker.

You don't. But this is a very expensive car. And considering Mercedes sells 340,000 new cars in the US and everyone else sells 17,500,000 new cars, driving any Mercedes puts you in the upper 2%, and that this expensive model (about 85k) accounts for 5% of Mercedes sales (compared to much higher numbers for cheaper C models) this car represents the upper 1/10% of car sales.

So sure, you could find a leased Benz being driven by someone about to go bankrupt, or Warren Buffet driving his old Caddy, but would you bet your house that the person driving this $85,000 car was not in the upper end of income in the US?

I would argue it’s a hasty generalization that the driver of this car, that can be leased for $600/month, makes more than $425k/year. Considering you already moved the goal post from 1 to 2%, something tells me you know it’s a hasty generalization.

I would agree average person driving this car is not fiscally responsible. Unless they’re making $900k+.

None of this affects the irony of the bumper sticker. But since you seem to want to quibble,

The lease payment on the car is 855/mo with no trade and $9,000 at signing. That's 10 grand a year, 20 grand your first year. Sounds spendy to me.
https://www.mbusa.com/mercedes/portfoli ... l-GLS450W4" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I didn't move the goal post to 2%, I said any Mercedes (based on car sales) puts you in the upper 2%, you are reading too fast. THIS Mercedes, the one with the bumper sticker, puts you in the upper 1/10%.

I also suspect there is something fishy with the oft quoted 1% income level. I just don't see where you put a national sample of 1,000 adults (households) in a room and 10 of them are making north of $425k. Is it 1% of people that file a tax return? I suspect the true 1% earnings cutoff is lower than 425.

And whether you're a 1%er or a 2%er or a 3%er, it doesn't affect the irony.

You're not going to tell me next how good a deal you could get that's better than list on that lease, are you.....

You should consider removing the license plate from the image before getting on your high horse. You seem to know it all. so how this got past you is a mystery
