skiers with frickin' laser beams attached to their heads!

Post by pizzamoose »

here's one from the "why didn't I think of that?" department..

the may issude of popular science has a short paragraph about the new digital blue helmet cam - a water-resistand VGA video camera (15 fps) with a laser pointer to show where you're aiming.

cool stuff..

ok doc, let's get this straight..

you're telling me that it's possible to aim the beam directly into someone's retinas long enough to cause damage:

1. with the target's retinas acclimated to broad daylight?
2. at a moving target?
3. while the camera is moving too?
4. with obstacles?
5. and sometimes unpredictable terrain?
6. from a range of at least 5-10 yards?

i'm not sure that superman can do that, much less mere mortals such as you can I (helmetcam notwithstanding, of course)

That is great! Now you can have a red laser dot in the middle of all of your video during playback.

it probably wouldn't even be visible during playback.. or at most barely noticeable.. especially at longer range.

but even if there is a dot, so what? you would be able to zoom the lens a bit and have shots at a much closer angle.. pretty good tradeoff if you ask me.
