Well he didn't add much to the Cubs last year at 11/12.MrsG wrote:Wonder if Lester has anything to add

$31M here and $20M for Porcello ... yikes!
Perhaps this forces their hand on Ramirez.
Can Price and Papi mend fences for the retirement tour?
How's Price gonna' show in his next postseason?

Despite the fact that he pitched well this season, his 5+ era doesn't cut it for me. Boston overpaid, but it makes sense because they desperately needed a reliable ace during the regular season to even give themselves a chance in the playoffs.
Edit: career 5+ era during the POSTseason

That's a lot of jingle but due to the fact that most of the rest of the roster is under budget due to the players youth then they'll still be under the payroll cap and they'll be putting their money in the right position considering the fact that pitching is 90% of the game .junior wrote:Atomic? Wait! I thought that 90% was mental and the other half was physical.Atomic1 wrote:That's a lot of jingle but due to the fact that most of the rest of the roster is under budget due to the players youth then they'll still be under the payroll cap and they'll be putting their money in the right position considering the fact that pitching is 90% of the game .junior wrote:Atomic? Million bucks every game he takes the hill for the next 7 years.
Re: David Price agrees to 7-year, $217 million deal with Red
The Signing of former YANKEE outfielder Chris Young surprised me more than this signing because the Sox have Betts, Bradley Jr. and Castillo there along with Hanley Rameriz and Alan Craig so expect some more trades to take place .

It could actually be 80% pitching with 10% hitting and 10% fielding . Thankfully No other HALF is involved !

All this is just another attempt by a large market baseball team to buy a championship. It usually doesn't work.
Look at my Pirates the last 3 years, near the bottom every year and better than almost all the other teams. Only the Cards have a better record than the Pirates the last two years.
Look at KC too.

Since most of us here were born the Pirates have won three, the same as the Redsox who spend 2 to 3 times as much on salary and had one of the worst records in baseball last year. Another thing, since you're the one always bringing up steroid use by the Steelers, I guess your last three World Series wins are illegitimate since Ramirez and Ortiz both used steroids.SnoBrdr wrote:And your Pirates have won how many championships ?f.a.s.t. wrote:All this is just another attempt by a large market baseball team to buy a championship. That don't move the needle whatsoever.
Unfortunate ... Pitt is such a 3rd tier town, can barely support 2 pro franchises.
How bout them Pipers
