Yankees reliever Aroldis Chapman gets 30

Post by SnoBrdr »

NY Post Sports Desk

The Big 3? Try the big 3-0.

Yankees reliever Aroldis Chapman is suspended for 30 games, The Post’s Joel Sherman confirmed, as MLB commissioner Rob Manfred handed down his much-awaited decision on Tuesday. Chapman will lose about $1.7 million in salary for the games missed.

Chapman will not appeal the suspension and was cooperative with the investigation.

Chapman was involved in a domestic violence dispute in October, with his then-girlfriend telling police he choked her and pushed her against the wall at his Miami-area home. Chapman then fired eight gunshots in his garage following the incident.

“I found Mr. Chapman’s acknowledged conduct on that day to be inappropriate under the negotiated Policy, particularly his use of a firearm and the impact of that behavior on his partner,” Manfred said in a statement. “I am gratified that Mr. Chapman has taken responsibility for his conduct, that he has agreed not to appeal the 30-game suspension.”

The Yankees traded at a bargain rate for the flame-throwing closer on Dec. 29, sending four prospects to Cincinnati in a haul that had greatly diminished following the allegations. The Yankees plan to partner Chapman with untouchables Dellin Betances and Andrew Miller in a star-studded bullpen.

And unlike Aaron Hernandez and the cheatriots, Chapman was not on the Yankee payroll when the incident took place.

Remind me again how many people Hernandez killed while he was on the NE payroll?

As usual, this suspension helps the Yanks . Why you ask ? Because you get to rest the guy for the first quarter of the season and the opposition doesn't get to see him until the later part of the season dare I say " playoffs " .

Yup , haters be hating already! :D
Maybe we need to take a look at when we suspend players for their actions and they might become more responsible. Maybe the suspension should have taken place in the later part of the season when " the chips " are on the table !

Reporting news is not hating.

Sad just sad that you would think that.

So far, it's been three that are known. His gang is responsible for hundreds, if not thousands.

Typical cheatriot employee. Nothing new here. Move along.....

Except for the way the Pirate management screwed Gerrit Cole.

At 19-8 with a 2.60 ERA and finished fourth in the Cy Young Award voting is worth more than a 7k raise.

... 'The Yankees traded at a bargain rate for the flame-throwing closer on Dec. 29...'

So they signed Chapman knowing full well he was a woman-beating criminal slug ?
Yeah, that justifies the signing ... makes everything alright.

Face it ... Mariano is long gone.
