Cleveland Indians

Post by f.a.s.t. »

Yep.....don't look now, but my Cleveland Indians have moved into first place with the 2nd best record in the American League. They have won 10 straight games. That's right, I said my Indians......I was born a few miles from the old Municipal Stadium where I went to my first ever MLB game when I was about 5 years old in first grade. Remember it like it was yesterday, me-my two brothers-my dad and his dad; will never forget it. The next day at school everyone was jealous and my teacher had me lie down on a desk and on a big sheet of brown paper they traced an outline of my body making a running catch of a fly ball, colored it with the Indians Colors and hung it up on the wall. Will never forget it.

Everyone knows that I'm a Puckburgh-Sixburgh-Bucsburgh fan; but I also have legitimate reasons for wanting the Tribe to win it all. Would be great for my 90 year old father too.

All this,no doubt, will drive the yahoos crazy, there's smoke coming out of their eyes and ears as they read this.

Let's see

NHL Champions; Puckburgh Penguins
NBA Champions; Cleveland Cavaliers
MLB Champions; Cleveland Indians
NFL Champions; Sevenburgh Steelers

All four titles at the same time...........can't get any better than this.

This is about as bad as a Red Sox fan saying his Yankees or Mets are doing well as his team (s) because he was born on the Island or near the stadium. Just stick with your Burg establishment.

Y Doc, if he has ever seen or read about a city, he claims their team if they win.

Just yet another pink hat.

Wonder if Napoli still has the porn star gf.

Every kid remembers their first game to a MLB game. I've followed the Indians my entire life. If they were to win the World Series I have every right to celebrate them as my team. There's nothing wrong with loving teams that you grew up with. When I lived in Lakewood, Ohio; I didn't even know where Pittsburgh was until my family moved there, I was an Indians fan and still am. Furthermore, I love one team from the American League and one team from the National League. Too bad for anyone that doesn't like it, I will stick with both my teams. It's a Burgh thing and a North Coast thing too, even though I doubt that any of you here have any clue about the North Coast?

So a fan of New York roots for who? NHL, NFL, MLB, NBA.

Who does the New Yorker root for? Whoever is winning at the time? That the case?

fan born in NYC area but became a Sox fan. Like some in here they get on the Sox band wagon early in the season but when that slips they suddenly turn to their roots and cheer for NYY or NYM. Could probably say the same for NHL or NFL. Rangers would have to pull a miracle to pull a B's fan back to the Garden.

My Cleveland Indians have now won 13 in a row. They play a 1pm game today in Toronto. All can tune in and enjoy and watch my Indians go for 14 in a row.

By the way, this does not mean I'm counting out my Pirates. Even though the Cubs are in 1st place and looks like they might run away with the division, my Bucsburgh Pirates are 3.5 games out for the wild card.

I wasn't just born there, I lived there until I was 11 and the Indians were, and still are my team. As I've said, they were the first MLB game I ever went to. One day me, my older brother and two friends told our parents we were going to Lakewood Park to play ball and go swimming, like we did almost everyday in summer. I was like 10 years old. We hopped on a bus on Clifton Blvd (cost a dime) and rode the 5-6 miles to Municpal Stadium. We sat in the bleachers (cost 50 cents) and watched a game, we all got really baked and burnt by the hot sun. None of our parents ever found out what really happened until years later when we told them what we did that day.

The Tribe makes it 14 in a row in a 19 inning game, spoiling the hopes of Canada on Canada Day. The battle of the Great Lakes continues today with the North Coast rivals going at it again.

By the way, longest MLB winning streak in history: the 1916 New York Giants at 26 (included a tie) and the 1935 Cubs at 21. More recently
the Money Ball A's had a 20 game streak.

Well, Cleveland lost today by an embarrassing margin. Guess they are pulling a Red Sox.

That's the good thing about baseball, yesterday's score mean nothing fore today or tomorrow.

I am so confused by you rooting for two teams, $.02.

IMHO, too early to make baseball predictions - we're not even at the AS break.
