Got an information news letter from GE just today. Malloy really screwed the pooch in CT with this one. With all the added taxes and government oversight, GE got pissed off and said they would move. Today was the day.

"We officially opened our new office in Boston this week. GE CEO Jeff Immelt, along with Governor Charlie Baker and Mayor Marty Walsh, joined us to celebrate the new location as a signal of what’s to come. With our new headquarters, GE is driving new ways to work with our customers and employees and building a faster, more collaborative business."

It's way more than GE. It's insurance companies not locating in CT, not expanding in CT. The new Cigna/Anthem headquarters was announced to be in Indiana. Pratt has been moving production out of state over the last 3 decades. Lots of small companies have left to lower cost states or to follow the big boys that are their customers to keep their contracts. Many of the wealthy have now declared residences out of state - no more income tax from them. CT is now facing serious budget shortfalls, and the unfunded pension liability is huge. It's bad, and CT needs to get started bailing water instead of letting the ship sink while legislators crow about how there's still some ship still above water.
