With the World Cup of Hockey down to the last two teams, most players now in training camp and pre-season games beginning, I am starting the 2016-2017 NHL Thread.

Of course, the Puckburgh Penguins begin their defense of the Stanley Cup.

GO PENS-GO PENS-GO PENS-REPEAT-REPEAT-REPEAT

The only thing that matters are Championships.

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Buffalo Sabres center Jack Eichel is out indefinitely after injuring his left ankle during practice Wednesday.

Coach Dan Bylsma said the team does not yet know the extent of Eichel's injury.

Too bad about Eichel.
Street opinion is that Edmonton will blossom behind McDavid.
Tool bag Chiarelli could look mighty good as a result.

Bruins defensive corps looks mighty feeble going in. :dislike
They'll need lots of goals and Rask better learn to headstand.
Playoff drought likely to continue.

So .. Go Celtics :like

Dazzling performance by Toronto Maple Leafs' Auston Matthews .

Four goals in his first NHL game.

Yet the Maple Laughs still find a way to lose.

To freaking Ottawa.

His 1st goal was sensational
As it turns out, hockey has taken a back seat to baseball up there.
Jays have taken over the city and rightly so.
Tito will need some new motivating factor.

Chief Tito doing the North Coast Tribe war dance for the battle of the Great Lakes. Jays will soon turn to Leafs. Tribes have dominion over birds.

Great CFB win by the Bs'.

Cap'n Sid the Grind Crosby skated out onto the ice with The Cup raised over his head and placed it at center ice. The 2016 Stanley Cup banner was raised and the Puckburgh Penguin fans went wild.

Biggest cheer last nite was for their savior .. Mario.
They're a long way from where they used to be.
15 years ago yesterday, the Penguins filed for federal Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection .. second time in their history.
