Trump's ultimatum: If vote fails, Obamacare stays
and here all along I believed you that Trump is a leader

... should have done tax cuts first!
what more can he do? as far as I understood it the obamacare reconciliation bill had to happen first or not at all...
Maybe ... lead? Isn't that what leaders do? His lack of leadership is resounding today on the heels of a failed vote, driven by his own party. Art of No Deal. Miserable.

Maybe ... lead? Isn't that what leaders do? His lack of leadership is resounding today on the heels of a failed voteyep surprise the R's don;t vote in lockstep the way the D's do...it's up to house leadership to get a bill passed not the president....they can continue to try for as long as they like... , driven by his own party.you really believe the R's are his party?Art of No Deal.again what exactly is he supposed to "lead"? he doesn't write the bills nor does he have the authority to make them law... Miserable.yep all you anti trumpers are miserable for sure...
you really have absolutely no idea how govt works do you? there hasn't even been a vote yet...

again many DO NOT CARE if the ACA languishes in purgatory and fails on it's own...nor do they care if it ever gets replaced...trump is right to say if ya want it gone here's yer chance otherwise he's moving on and yer stuck w it...he's already done what he can by issuing EO's to scale back the ACA...

really? yer completely oblivious to whats happening, totally wrong on the facts yet somehow you consider them excuses?

it's pretty simple really congress does not work for the president and he has no authority over them...members of congress are not required to nor should they strive to adhere to a monolithic platform in lockstep w house leadership and should in fact vote for their constituents best interests which may or may not be the same as those of the party or president...

i know the last 8 years of banana republic govt have blurred the lines between the executive and legislative branch but they do still exist...

all that aside...

THERE HASN'T BEEN A VOTE YET

on top of all that from what I can see the bill really doesn't address the issues of affordability ( not do I think it can, and maybe it's not the gov place to do so anyway)in the end it comes down to the will of the people thru their chosen representatives, not the president as to whether this moves on or not...

I'm not sure what kind of magical things you imagine trump is supposed to do here...

As I understand it, pulling a bill goes beyond simply postponing a vote. I believe it means it's been removed entirely from consideration.

The vote has been cancelled
3:35 p.m. Margaret Brennan confirms. President Trump asked Speaker Ryan to pull the bill from the floor, Catherine Reynolds reports, according to a House GOP aide. Ryan will hold a press conference at 4 p.m. The House Republican conference is meeting right now.
in any case there won;t be a vote today...
There’s also a strict limit on how often Congress can use budget reconciliation. Basically, it’s limited to one spending/revenue bill per year, or per budget resolution. “Under Senate interpretations of the Congressional Budget Act, the Senate can consider the three basic subjects of reconciliation — spending, revenues, and debt limit — in a single bill or multiple bills, but it can consider each of these three in only one bill per year,” the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities’ David Reich and Richard Kogan write. “This rule is most significant if the first reconciliation bill that the Senate takes up affects both spending and revenues. Even if that bill is overwhelmingly devoted to only one of those subjects, no subsequent reconciliation bill can affect either revenues or spending because the first bill already addressed them.
the above is why the repeal vote needed to come before any other budget bill...

in the end trump can't sign a bill that never makes it to his desk...If R's in the house want to submit a repeal and/or replace bill to the senate under reconciliation, they'll need to act quickly...Trump is right in saying now or never and asking for a budget bill that addresses tax reform to be taken up...that doesn't mean that congress will do that...

The failed let us all know when you fail so well...former Casino owner has opted to change his diaper rather than risk a vote exposing the dysfunction of his party. not his party, which is why he won...not necessarily dysfunction either as the party shouldn't be in absolute lockstep like the D's are, if the bill doesn't suit the representatives constituents the representative should oppose...that's his/her job...It's a feature not a bug...
Walking away from a deal because it made his tiny Real Estate head hurt. ?????more brown noise....
Shudder to imagine when this Country faces a real crisis. blame it on a video no doubt? and send a woman to do it while he hobnobs w rappers in vegas...oh wait that's already been done... maybe he'll draw a red line and boast of the severe consequences that will occur should it be crossed...whoops, already been done as well...maybe he'll just stand by and watch a country be annexed...jeez that one's already been done too....

yer making an idiot of yourself....try to tone back the hyper partisan to something like rabid fanatic...

might as well start by coming to grips w the fact that no matter how many obscure cryptic posts you make you won't be overturning the results of the election...second take into consideration the fact that you've been wrong by about a 100:1 ratio or worse...third ya might wanna brush up on how our govt works before ya go pointing fingers...

kinda funny that you consider this a big fail for trump...he ran on saying he would sign a repeal bill and won... ryan was unable to deliver a repeal bill...does he get replaced w someone who can? or does some pro obamacare revolution start?

it's definitely a fail for ryan as the house leader and it's a letdown for anyone who was excited about repeal...personally I hardly care about the ACA especially now that the D's are unable to exploit any of it for their own gain...

Trump issued his EO on it...That's as far as his powers go....

I voted trump for this reason alone:

already got what I wanted anything else is just icing on the cake...

After his choke job today on yet another failed campaign promise he was seen taking a drive to blow off a little steam.
