It comes as Warren considers a run for the White House in 2020. Her Feb. 14 address to the National Congress of American Indians was widely praised by conference attendees, and her allies viewed it as an important step forward for a potential candidate who had faced unexpectedly harsh criticism from both Republicans and some liberal activists over her claims of Cherokee and Delaware heritage despite a lack of documentation — a reality she acknowledged in the speech and her private conversations with Native American leaders.
So there is no documentation she has any Cherokee ancestry, but Trump's nickname which targets that deception to get hired at Harvard is somehow racist. This is right up there with Kerry's and Blumenthal's "Served in Vietnam" and Ted Kennedy's Chapaquidick. They might get re-elected as senators in their home state, but they will never erase that deception.

Similar folklore in our family is how my great great grandfather went west in the homesteading days, and failed in the dustbowl years. The family jokes the reason his farm failed is because there was so much oil under it. Do I now have a claim on Exxon Mobil? Am I an oilman? I have no documentation, but I have folklore...

Give it up, Ms Warren. We're not buying it. The sooner you stop selling it, the better.
Of course, there is no documentation that she is not of Cherokee heritage either.

Well, except for the eye witness accounts - you know like in the tall tale of "Olde Bone Spur" thwarting a mugging attempt.

Ugh, Warren is scum. She'd make a terrible president and I hope she never makes it to the primaries.

It really is depressing how few good candidates (are there any?) either side can put forward. Our system is so broken it hurts.

Democrats Release Tax Hike Plan
Did this even make the news as I hadn't heard anything about it? If it's the party's position, it's the stupidest political move since Mondale's tax hike promise during presidential run in 1984.

Interesting way to report that plan. Raising the top tax bracket to 39.6% just puts it back where it was before the Trump tax cut. The cuts to all the other brackets remain in place. The corporate tax raise just brings it to 25%, which is still down from the 35% rate that was in place before the Trump cut. So really the democrat plan is just a partial roll back of Trump's tax cuts that leaves most of the tax breaks in place.

Not surprising that Forbes reports it as a tax hike though because Forbes has their particular bias toward business/high net worth individuals.

Forbes reports it as a hike because it is a tax hike. You say it your self that taxes are raised.

Oh cool, are you posting stories in an attempt to expose the right-wing media bias of some media outlets?

That headline is pretty misleading. No where in the article does it say any candidate or official of the democratic party has advocated for eliminating ICE. The only thing the article says is that there is pressure from some far-left wingers for it. It's like saying a key goal of republicans is to eliminate the IRS just because some far right-wingers are pushing for reform.

The Trump tax cuts haven't even gone into effect yet (well, I guess they have, for 3 months).

It's okay. You probably don't see the bias because you happen to agree with it. It'd be much more accurate to say, "Dems release tax plan to partially roll back Trump Tax Cuts" but that isn't as catchy and likely wouldn't sell as many magazines to Forbes wealthy clientele.

The only thing the article says is that there is pressure from some far-left wingers for it. It's like saying a key goal of republicans is to eliminate the IRS just because some far right-wingers are pushing for reform.
In January, the idea was endorsed by Brian Fallon, a former top aide to 2016 Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, and Eric Holder, President Barack Obama’s attorney general. The Daily Caller first drew attention to the calls.

“ICE operates as an unaccountable deportation force,” Fallon tweeted. “Dems running in 2020 should campaign on ending the agency in its current form.”
“This is a growing position on the left, and I imagine 2020 Democratic presidential aspirants will have to grapple with it,” liberal writer and MSNBC host Chris Hayes tweeted.
certainly both fallon and hayes are lefty loons but I don't know how "far" they are from the party...

and that is hardly the extent of it...
But the idea has picked up steam in recent days after Hayes, the MSNBC host, asked Democratic California Sen. Kamala Harris if she believes ICE should exist.

“ICE has a purpose, ICE has a role, ICE should exist,” Harris, a potential 2020 candidate, responded. “But let’s not abuse the power.”

Since then, Harris, the former attorney general of California, has faced a backlash from liberal publications.

“Kamala Harris is very likely running for president in 2020,” Jack Mirkinson of the liberal Splinter website wrote. “It should be a political problem for her that she is not willing to take her criticisms of ICE to their logical conclusion and call for its abolition.”

He added: “She should be asked, over and over again, why exactly she is willing to uphold the legitimacy of such a racist, corrupt, and thuggish organization.”
The Nation, a liberal magazine, last week also published an article titled “It’s Time to Abolish ICE.” The writer accused the agency of being part of an “unbridled white-supremacist surveillance state” and called it “an unaccountable strike force executing a campaign of ethnic cleansing.”
Democratic officeholders also have been openly rebelling against ICE, including Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf, who recently tipped off the public to an immigration raid in the San Francisco Bay Area.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., last week slammed that raid as "unjust and cruel."
you may be correct that its far left thinking, but that's because the party itself is far left...
