I can understand why Vail would want Stowe: large margins, upscale clientele, just the sort that would head out west. However, why would AIG want to sell their private little country club to a mass marketer like Vail?

Stowe aint for sale. EVEN tho the feds mandated AIG divest of all of it?...all they did is rename sections of it with straw entities. Feds didnt pursue the matter. AIG 1...Feds 0.

Under the new 'administration', AIG/Mansfield is unlikely to receive another infusion from the US taxpayers.
AIG trades ~$66
Vail trades ~$170
Lift tickets across Vail Enterprises will soon match combined total of the stock trade asking prices.

Rumor is everywhere. At this point I'd be more surprised if Vail didn't buy Stowe. If it's BS, my hat's off to whoever planted this story and got it traction/made it viral. There is an accompanying rumor that Vail is also buying Smuggs. That would be interesting. Smuggs owner, Bill Stritzler is no spring chicken. This would be a hell of an exit strategy for him.

As some know, the Spruce-Sterling interconnect has been operational for many years.
Used to be real easy .. worst case, slip the liftie a 'fin' and away you go.

Vail taking ownership of all that and 'upgrading' it would be a shame.
Hoping the State would present many obstacles in that regard.
Destruction of the Notch isn't something that even Vail can afford.
(Is Vail willing to pay $2M/bear.. :? )

Epic pass price increase would seem to be on the agenda.
Stowe's season pass is already > doubly more expensive.

Witnessing the full-on Megalomania of this sport. :dislike
