don't know if 4 runs qualifies as a report but ...

doc was heading home as i was booting up. he said no see - no ski. well that doc is a pretty sagacious fellow. indeed some of the poorest viz i've ever not seen. to top it off, the surface was frozen 'roy. it didn't even chatter. scary at times. forget about anything not groomed. dropped my skies off for a tune on the way home. if the fog lifts and the surface softens, it "could" turn into a delightful ski day, if not - yuch ...

It got much better after about 1:30. Visability before then was literally 20 - 30 ft. The fog completely dissipated by the end of the day. With the poor vis it was very difficult as sheer ice patches were everywhere. Top of Skyeburst claimed many weekenders sliding all the way to the bottom. I laughed on the lift til I hit it and almost lost my skis too on the ice. Slowest Saturday year to date at the mountain.

Was told by many folks that I did not miss anything today. Most skied one or two runs and called it a day due to iciness and poor visibility.

by far the worst day of the season for me. best thing that be said is i got my pass scanned. and stop worrying about missing anything ...

With my special fog goggles I did 8-10 runs.
Yes the fog was a pain but at the peak and Northridge you could see .
The ski surface was fast and firm with frozen corduroy. Took blue heaven and launch pad-super fast. Lots of peeps. So many people out of control.
Traveled to Needles and Bear. Bear was softer but visibility was poor.
Took sky down and it was slick and fast to k1.
Took a ride in k1 to peak around 12.
No line and mostly tourists.

For those that took a pass today you did not miss a thing.

good grief it wasn't THAT bad out there...of course going out for first chair when half the hill is down for icing isn't very astute...showed up at the usual crack of noon, fog lifted some, nothing was spectacular, plenty of it was both edgeable and acceptable...

food at jerk was just as good as last weekend....


excellent HH was attended by some of the Kzone crew and a few lurkers as well as a number of others...Many a beer was sampled...Good times...

Afternoon Report: Early bird apparently did not get the worm today.

Skiadikt: Thanx for the report. 3 runs is a legal Snow Nymphs day, so consider it formally issued.

Not too good out there except that lower SkyeLark was very good with very good bumps. Only thing I can figure out is that they must have been blowing snow on it the day/night before when the liquid precip came down. ROTD by a landslide.

Powerline was also very skiable albeit a bit technical.

I tried Thimble right off the rip and it was not a do-over. Breakable crust on top of about 2" or so of new snow, so not too trecherous (would have been worse if the snow below the crust layer was deeper].

I saw some good skiers coming down Needles Eye hard right side that looked "OK" but did not try it myself as we headed out of there right away to see if the peak was better. Not so. Everything down into the canyon was closed.

On Snowdon, even Mouse Trap was closed. Highline might have been OK.

Near the end of the day, they had closed upper Skyeburst. We went through the stash that was icy. Lower Bear Claw and lower Wildfire were soft and pretty good, but not enough traffic to form any sizeable bumps.

Run down to Skyeship was soft / decent for what that's worth.

I guess we missed most of the real bad visibility issues.
