Friday 4/21/17 report
Started around 10 to let the heavier precipitation settle down. Ouch, they need some cold nights to farm some snow on the runout from the Canyon quad to the base. Did K-1 laps on Cascade to stay relatively dry. Soft snow and modest bumps, very carveable. Visibility not bad. Some snow "caving in" just about Ecsapade, but fixable if they get to groom. Did not do Superstar but found Skylark also soft and lower had nice bump lines. Great Northern to Highline was interesting, with HL nice soft bumps, but pick your exit based on where the least amount of dirt resides NCP started to get more intense and my back decided it was going to be temperamental, so packed it in after 16k vert.and will come back tomorrow. Cheers!

At least it was warm....At 4 Patrol said the top would be open tomorrow - the run outs are thin but the trails are not bad. It won't last long - more walking will be required as the day goes on tomorrow.

Send Chris or any other winch cat operator up there. It will be good as new tomorrow. East fall is easy. It has built in winch points for the cats.

Jeeze. Leave for a few days and things go to hell in a handbasket.
Skied Jay today for 2 hrs from 930-1130. Snow was decent enough and no r*in. Just the Jet triple spun for upper Mt lifts.
They still have enough snow on the Jet pod, but everything else is toast. That Jay cloud is nice during the winter, but awfully dreary during the spring. We were there four days and didn't see the sun, let alone the peak once.

Natural snow melts way faster than manmade! Especially that uplift lake effect type, very low water content. Snow from the coastal storms has way more water in it, melts slower. I would like to see how many inches of water was in that 500"!skiadikt wrote:you'd think w/ 500" of snow they'd be skiing til labor day ...ozzy wrote:Jeeze. The trails are not the problem - its the connectors..... No snow to move around. The hill after the canyon chair will be bare by AM.ANGUS wrote:Send Chris or any other winch cat operator up there. It will be good as new tomorrow. East fall is easy. It has built in winch points for the cats.
