Lip balm?

Well, since we're having so much fun on the Salomon QST 92 ski topic!

What's the best lip balm for skiers?

I've been using Dermatone SPF 23 since the 80's, the one with the screw on cap.
Keep one in my pocket everyday of the year, great stuff

Now this is a post I can get behind. I've always felt that as equipment goes, in order of importance: 1) Boots, 2) Googles, 3) Lip Balm, and everything else is an et cetera.

For my lip balm, I've also stuck with the screw on cap kind since the 80s:

I'm happy if I reach in my ski jacket pocket and there's something there. If a Chap Stick [et al] makes it to the end of the tube before I lose it I feel accomplished. I'm surprised the hill isn't a rolling slope of lip balm tubes from all the ones I've lost.

Brand? I'm supposed to care about brand?

(There's been a noticeable lack of lip balm swag recently.)

I realize this comes down to personal preference and there is no correct answer.

The correct answer is: Herpecin HL 30.

30 sunscreen, I use it when outside in sun; especially in high winds. If you ever get cold sores this will also knock them down fast.

Are you sure you want Humpty to weigh in on lubrication?

well my guess is HS likes something around this size:

the DIN on that one goes to 21...

for me I never leave home w/o a 15spf chapstick or similar in my pocket...only real consideration outside of the spf is that it remains relatively soft even in cold weather...

He often speaks of lubrication; this was a theme in the Habitrailgate thread.

Been using Blistex(spl) spf 15 for years now. Applies better than chapstix and easier application with gloves or in the cold than the screw on types. Helps prevent cold sores on those bright sunny days.
