21Oct GIS Report

Darkness slowly gave way to the morning light as our kayak hit the water at Kent Pond. Air temperature of 37 degrees did not produce very much morning mist as the water has cooled as well. With a hour to go until sunrise we paddled around enjoying the still of the morning. Hit the farmers market, bakery and shoe store killing time waiting for warmth of the indian summer afternoon to kick in. Gathered with a larger flotilla of friends for an afternoon paddle and swim at Chittenden Reservoir. This is how some of the diehard passionate skiers mange to kill time waiting for the cold weather to return. Looking south a bare Pico stood tall against the fading fall color. A few took the after paddle dip with the warm air a stark contrast to the cold water. Finished up on the mountain with biking friends for a fading light tailgate happy hour.

Quote of the Day - This may be my last swim of the year.

Sometimes when the water temp is warmer then the air temp, it makes for a nice swim.
